Topic: Wossner big bore kits

I searched but there is very little info on the forum.

Does anyone have any experience with the Wossner big bore kits from Germany?

I can get them cheaper in Canada than the Wiseco 836cc kit.

No experience with the company, but that seems like quite a good deal!!  Hopefully others will chime in with experience, but that's a nice kit!!

A lot of the sport bike guys use Wossners and say good things. I'm not familiar with them myself. Give us a report if you try them.

Just some info in case anyone does a search for Wossner 836 kits. The pistons, rings, pins and clips weigh 215 grams. I believe that is slightly lighter than the Wiseco big bore kit.

The good thing about their pistons is they all come with Teflon coated skirts.

APE is a warehouse distributor for Wossner pistons for the sportbikes. In face we are WD for every major piston supplier, Wiseco, JE. CP, MTC, Vertex, and Wossner.

I just use a bit of copper tube, it polishes up nice to give the correct fit, I hold it in with a bit of Locktite or Superglue, they have never moved on me. This set up is nice and light. (don't do this in a road motor, it is for racing only)
For a bit of added protection, I glue a small rubber block on to the underside of the piston just in case the motor hydraulics, the copper piston pin folds and the top of the rod hits the rubber block and stops the component parts damaging one another. Make sure the rubber blocks are all the same weight, we don't want the pistons to be out of ballance........do we?

And that's before I go to the Pub.

  Sam....he's not working on toilets. The only copper I want to see is the plumbing in my house. Oh...wait a minute....I remember the "galvanic response" with copper and aluminum. My God....it would make Hiroshima look like a nice holiday according to some people. I think that is funny as Soichiro himself ordered many parts copper plated on the early race bikes. I think some people have their heads -- ----- ---

I'll have to get back to you on that.....Randy has the old stuff at his shop.  I was thinking about wall thickness actually....I did not know there was an OD choice back then...I hope it's the bigger pin.

 I would gladly run 15mm if it got me in the 8's or 7's...

The Honda uses 15mm pins. We have a tool steel pin for them that we original made for the TQ midget guys. Our smallest top fuel pin was a 17mm, that we originally did for the late Elmer Trett.

I would have to assume that your dad making both the rods and pistons would have run the bigger pins. If not, there is no reason you can't.
