Today was an absolutely beautiful day to go riding, but what did I do...worked on the CB of course. I managed to prime and paint the engine. I wasn't able to get the heads back from my buddy's shop because he closed up early. No big deal as I can pick them up Monday. He let me put the parts in his powder coat heating booth to cure the paint. Everything was painted with VHT's high temp paint.

The case is universal silver and the head & jugs I used GM satin black.

Picked up the head and jugs this afternoon. They turned out pretty well. A little final polishing on the edges and they are going to pop.

Picked up the powder coated parts today. They look good. I think he sprays a little thick which is going to cause a problem on the top of the fork lowers. I taped in the grooves so I could come back later and pc the grooves in the blue. Because his spray is so thick it is extremely difficult to remove the tape without pulling the powder coat off the top of the groove. It is going to require lots of patience when removing the tape. I am going to having to very carefully cut through the edge of the pc to get a clean line down to the tape in order to remove it.

Not sure what is up with my camera. Every time I took a pic it had this strange blue hue to it.

Are the fork lowers and brake bits silver? Everything is gonna look great. Can't wait to see you put this one together.

Double check, but I'm not entirely sure the shock mounts will work right if they're left powder coated. You may need to take it off the upper mounts.

Yes the forks and front brake bits are silver. The swingarm was supposed to be silver as well. However, I dropped it off at the powder coaters a week after I dropped off all of the other parts and completely forgot to tell him what color. He figured it would be blue like the rest of the stuff. I am debating whether to bead blast and redo it in the silver.

There are a few spots where I am going to have to remove a little powder coat to get things to fit properly.

I managed to get the tape out of the grooves on the fork lowers. Now I get to re-tape and pc the grooves in blue. I took a better pic of the silver in the sun so you could see the light shimmer to it.

Still debating if I want to re-do the swingarm. I wanted it in the silver to match the forks. Part of me says it will be just fine the way it is, but the other part of me says that I will always notice it and it will bother me. Thoughts?

I would leave it. Matching swingarm looks good. Different color swingarm, cant say I have seen a CB like that.

Build is looking good....I'm jealous. Hey, thanks for the hook up at Fusion PC, Tom is great. I should be picking up my frame tomorrow, can't wait to get on with the rebuild. Once their built, we'll have to go ride.

I thought that might have been your frame there. A ride is definatley in the cards, but I am probably a little less than a year out from being complete. However, I do have the Triumph D675 that is always ready!

I thought it was going to be a huge PITA re-taping, but as it turns out it wasn't difficult at all. The tape you use for PC work has a little stretch to it. I have some very thin stuff that was just slightly wider than the outside grooves I wanted to tape over. With a little stretching it formed perfectly.

An easier method to paint those groves would have been to paint the entire fork tube the color that you want. Then cover up the things you don't want paint on and then paint it the silver. Basically the reverse of what you did. Oh well, this works too.

Love that blue! Matching the swingarm with the silver fork lowers would look great, in my opinion.
