David Silver Spares side covers
« on: April 26, 2012, 03:11:35 PM »
Does anyone know who makes the DSS side covers? I like the fact that they mount with tabs and not screws, as the Meir side covers.

I've had good experiences with DSS, but was wondering if there's an American equivilant?

the second shot shows the backside if you enlarge it.

Definitely looks like tabs.

I was just going to send the same link (LPM) - another UK option. I have not found a US option, but was wondering if anyone had an opinion between the LPM and DSS.

A few years ago I bought the ones from DSS did not know about Frankinstuff at the time. I have not had any problems. If any thing they are tight so I lube the new grommets. No fear of losing them. I think they are better than the oem if they still made them. In respect for the oem they were 30 years old when the tabs broke.

I have new in 2002 Honda panels from DS on my 550, they came in flake sapphire blue. They are a very tight fit.

Drop Frankenstuff a line, I'm sure he can sort you out.
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Frankenstuff only makes the 550F covers, which will also work on the '77-78K models, but not the earlier 500's and 550's. Otherwise, he'd get my business.

At a little over $100/pr., the DSS ones seem like a decent deal.

Neither DSS or LPM list those same covers for the 550, but aren't they the same from '71-76?

I understand if he gets enough requests he will make almost anything. No harm dropping him a line.

Well, they're for my "Sweep The Floor" project bike. It's a CB500 engine in a '76 CB550 frame.
I know that the '77-78K model covers will NOT fit. Nor will the 550F covers.

I'm 99% sure that all the other years.....'71-76 K models.....are the same. Right?

not an expert on this but it "think" that the side covers from 71 to 73? will fit either a 500 or 550. after that its a crap shoot. hate to say this.. but do a search..i found something here once that showed the difference in the year models. match your frame to the side covers. if you need some good glue to patch some flee bay side covers back together pm me and i will send it for cost of shipping. get lots of shelf life expired stuff from work..but works fine for home projects!

I've asked before, and he's refused.

Right on all three.  Only difference in the 500 and '74-'76 550K's is the emblems.
