At 19 I started my own business manufacturing custom speaker cabinets. My most notable client was the Black Eyed Peas who used a few of my products on a world tour. I made poor business decisions, most notably never having any real inventory and just building to order. People are NOT happy when they have to wait for a shipment.  That by itself sunk me, otherwise I would have quite a successful business as I had no problem selling. Now I'm almost 24 and took some time off from that. For the last 2 years I've been recording bands full time however recently (christimas time) I got into a little trouble with the law and got 4 months of house arrest.  :'(   Since I've been on house arrest I've gotten a job securing and maintaining bank owned properties. Mostly cutting grass, doing regular light cleaning, breaking in and changing locks. I'm about to be off house arrest in a few days finally. Hopefully I can get my main business kick started again and do it right this time.

not meant as a mean reply, just if he was collecting social security i would be glad to add to the pot for him. as far as being a machinist, dang wish i had learned  about that more! would be handy now.

I didn't take it as mean- no worries.  I paid into that fund for 50 years.  Belive me, for me SS is not an entitlement-I invested more then I'll get back out.  Esp if we don't change the spender in chief this November.

Tradesman Painter specializing in industrial epoxy coatings, work place health and safety ticket, concrete finishing ticket, forklift, scissor lift, and cherry picker tickets, owner builders license, machine work {lathe, mill and press} welding and a lot of construction work, jack of all trades i suppose, always wanted to be self sufficient. Looking at getting into workplace health and safety as an inspector.

Systems Engineer, Systems Analyst, Systems Administrator.  Been in this business since my service years where I broke in on Burroughs 3500's in the mid 60's.  They used to be considered different positions in IT.  Then the new economy started about 10 years ago and now I do the job that three did then.  I cringe when people say Americans aren't productive, we work harder and longer than most give us credit for.  I'm salaried and it isn't uncommon for me to work 55 to 60 hour weeks for a 40 hr base.  I may not retire for another few years even though I could now.   But when I do I will have earned every penny the Uncle sends me on that third Wednesday.  Maybe I should retire sooner.  Maybe then I could complete my 550 restoration.

I am nothing more than a modest steering wheel holder toting 9700 gallons of gasoline behind me all day long making sure my two wheeled friends can fill up when they get to the station.

After 35 years in the Army I'm employed by a defence contracting company as a "Subject Matter Expert" (SME) in defence logistics. I drive a company car between all the defence bases in Victoria to advise site managers on logistics issues, and to help the warehousing staff with training, corporate governance, equipment management, stocktaking etc.

I'd much rather be a porn star, but black men with massive appendages have just ruined the business for white guys like me........... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

During the school year, I'm a Band Director.....in the summertime, I'm a house painter.  Paint brushes don't spew excuses and constantly whine like 12 yr olds do, so I'm looking forward to the switchover in about a week.   :)

Just like cgswss, I'm old and have done nothing for almost 10 years now.   8) 8) 8)

Oh...I guess I have been doing a bit of instructing for motorcycle riding during those last 10 years...and also changing the oil and fixing up some of their fleet of motorcycles.  (Hey, I also take out the garbage and mow the lawn for the missus, and she feeds me in return.)

Hey - its a living!  ;D

Amen to that! Kids these days are too babied by their parents. No ownership of their own problems.
