My Mum had never liked the French, well maybe not never.  Just since they surrendered.  So, if Mum did not like them, I won't either.

I find it hard to fault them for what happened in WWII.  Their country had been the main battleground just 20 years earlier and they lost an entire generation.  No country was prepared to fight the mobile mechanized warfare that the Germans introduced in 1939.  If the U.S. Army of 1940 had been in France they would have had their ass handed to them on a platter too.

I think we pick on the French because they are even more arrogant than we are. ;D

One step at a time young man. Once you've mastered that we can start on punctuation and the apostrophe is a fine place to start from.. ;-)

For the record, I like the French; great food; wine is not as good as Oz or CA but it's good; cars are OK if you look through the dross, oh and they not only know where Paris is, they know where Washington is too which puts them one up on George Bush  ;D  ;D  ;D

You Yanks doth protest too much I think and you must secretly like the French an awful lot - you let them dump one of their little ornaments on an island off Manhattan not so long ago  8)

Yeah, the 504's were cool cars in that you could fold the seats back and basicly have a twin size bed. As much as people live in cars, the 504 was cool for camping. Turbodiesel....I want one.

"Cheese eating surrender monkeys" are what they're called down at The American Legion bar.  But then, they are usually drunk.

I think the recent distaste of the French stems from them not letting us even fly over their airspace to get to war in the middle east.  Remember when Dubya renamed food in the Congressional cafeteria, from French Fries to Freedom Fries?

Good shout Trueblue - those French michelin tyres are mighty fine hoops of rubber too, or Freedom Tires as I like to call them now......have you noticed how I'm getting all this in now, BEFORE the 4th July when the Brit bashing starts ;D

In general, people don't care about the meaning of the 4th of July.  It is all about where they can buy the cheapest fireworks.

In my 47 years, I have never heard any Brit bashing.  If I did, I might have to beat some arse!
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

I like those Michelin tyres too, I have them on my bike, plenty of grip.  I have never heard any Brit bashing around here, but we don't celebrate the 4th of July either.  I have though heard plenty of poking fun at Poms, I actually live with one, she is from your neck of the woods, in Cheshire.

Actually it was a raid on Libya under Ronald Reagan. Italy and Spain also refused to let our Planes fly over.  They thought Regan was being a Cowboy. Quadiffi shut his mouth after that since he found out his defense forces were not worth #$%*.

I'd say there's a bit of that going around more than you think.  The actual holiday is "Independence Day", and falls on the fourth of July.

Just sayin'.

Fair enough too, I think I saw the documentary Stan, if it wasn't for those brave pilots fighting against enormous odds, those aliens would have taken over! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.
