Hey lucky, do you still have that oem Honda 77-78 630 front sprocket you said you'd sell me? What do you want for it? PM me if you still eat to part with it.

As 754 said, they're 42 years old...stuff gets missed. Unless this guy was the original owner of these carbs, you have no idea if he was the one that used glue to fix them anyway...

How were they represented on ebay? Do you have a copy of the original ad? Or any questions that you asked the seller?

I think it's a little over the top to refer to the guy as a scumbag, and assuming he knew that the tube was cracked.

Especially without even contacting the seller.  Even accusing sellers of "giving you the jets they don't want?"  Cmon man-  you don't see the obvious possibility that someone tuned those carbs to an engine and it wanted a smaller pilot?  Used parts are used parts- it's not a conspiracy.

You sound like a hard customer to deal with.

Sorry double post.

When I sell carbs I inform the customer what the jet sizes are.
I also say what parts are new and if there are any defects.
I have a 100% feedback rating .

Post the results of your soldering effort-  I've had better luck sleeving them with brass tube that you can get at a hobby store.

People are sh*tty sometimes, but I doubt the seller intentionally hid anything.  Used parts are used parts- if you paid core price you don't have much to complain about.  I would understand if you paid for a set of carbs in "100 percent proper working order."

I sanded the brass tube with 400 grit paper and it soldered it.
Came out nice and smooth. It was easier than I thought.
That old glue came right off too and was not hiding any other defect.
Maybe the glue was in the crack, but drained down to the bottom of the tube.
Lucky, would I be correct in assuming that you used real solder to solder these tubes, not electrical solder, the kind that comes on a roll.

Of course.   I keep a kit with both types handy.
I like having the little brush with the acid too just in case.

Ok, I was just clarifying for everyone else out there, to try and limit the amount of people trying to use electrical solder to fix these.

I've bought a few parts off Ebay and I agree that there are a lot of sellers who don't know what they are doing, and don't check out their own parts. Of course there are lots of good sellers too, but I still feel like I'm gambling when I order something. Working with Ebay to get money back is easy if the seller doesn't want to refund you, but you still waste money on shipping for their mistake.

My own examples:
-I ordered a CB550 seat that turned out to be a CB450 seat. How did I know it was from a 450? The old seat still had an old registration from the 70s underneath.

-Ordered another CB550 seat. Seat cover in poor condition. I ask the seller if the metal around the rim is not rusted out and if those metal points are in good shape. Seller says that there is some rust, but they all look to be ok. I get the seat and it's rusting around the rim, some sections missing- (so rusty you can put your finger through in spots), many rusting off metal points, and the pan is cracked.

And beware of the sellers that say you get what is described or what is in the photo.
Many times one of the views is missing or the description does not tell you that a part is broken of missing.
Many times the year of the part is wrong.
