Hard Bags on our SOHC"s Should I?
« on: August 15, 2012, 09:30:40 AM »
I've got the bug lately to add some hard touring bags to my 72 Cb750. My wife thinks I am crazy, she thinks I'm not seeing clearly. What do you guys think? Does anybody have them and are you happy. I would like to paint them to match my bike. I am looking at some ol school Shoies with the Chrome racks. If anyone has pics please show me. I dig em! At least what I think they look like in my mind. Sometimes my mind is a scary place to be.

I guess if you do a lot of touring on your K it could come in handy.

It could come in handy to have a luggage rack on  a vintage Mustang, Camaro or 'Cuda, but it would be a sin.

I would like to go on longer rides, and someplace to put a couple sweatshirts and some rain gear just in case would be nice. I know it will change the overall aprearance of it, clubmans and bar end mirrors with some hard bags, who woulda thunk?

It would be cool if it was something you could take on and off without having to take 2 hours and half your tool supply.
If there was a bag system like that I would be sold.

I'm with ya on the time it will prolly take to take of and put on. I wish I could afford a "Wing". It's not in the cards yet. I commute daily to work and the drout here in the Hoosier I have logged a whole lot more miles this year than I can ever remember, other than back when I was single,no wife,no kids, and no responcibilities!

Its not cool but its super functional - holds a 12-pack with ease, great for commuting, camping, waterproof and dustproof. I like my top box:

Best looking one I have seen was a 77/78 k with black bags and tank. I actually like it. I just throw soft bags on mine.

All right guys I went out and found some bags. I answered a Craigs List add, took the day off. I almost thought I got stood up. Took the guy about 15 minutes to answer his door. I also bought a trailer hitch. When I saw it,I had to have it. I know the bags are Shoei, what I am not sure of is the origin of the sissy bar/luggage rack. He "said" its for a CB 750.But it fits tight around the seat. I may have to remove my grab bar to install. The Chrome is no where near as nice as he let on,and the pics he said were the worst spots are actually the the the best spots. Bummer! I drove all the way out there,I wasn't coming home empty handed.I'm not exactly sure how to clean and polish this stuff. Oh well the bags are solid and the fiberglass isn't spidered. I'm not sure what I have got myself into, but winter is around the corner. Price for it all was 125.00.
I know pics or it didn't happen.

That seems like a fair price. Yes, you'll need to remove the grab bar.

You have to promise to paint them to match though, ok?!
