Photos from the Cannonball Run 2012 Newburgh NY
« on: September 09, 2012, 06:04:32 PM »
A few Boston SOHC riders had gone to watch the Cannonball Run leave Motorcyclepedia Museum in Newburgh, NY on Friday 7th Sept 2012

Early morning start of 6.30am to go get breakfast and then head over to Motorcyclepedia to watch the Cannonball Run leave at 9am.

The riders get ready...

As we turned onto a street we found ourselves behind some of the Cannonball riders who were making their way over to the museum - this was a highlight of the trip - riding with ~8 of these guys as they roared along on their pre-1929 motorcycles fumes belching and being as noisy as hell  - great stuff!

We then watched as other riders came in and set their bikes up in one row...

A 1000cc single speed bike!

with "gps" :)

it takes 2 getting the bike on the center stand

Imagine sitting on this for 3500 miles...

This guy had to work on his carbs when he came in - final tweaking

This 1928 Indian is being ridden by RTW Doug - he rode his 1948 Indian across Russia/Siberia - he told me he rode the 1928 bike up from Alabama to NY for the start of the Cannonball Run and blew a piston on the Interstate...oops!

and his philosophy..

Check out the dual levers

On the Cannonball Run there are only 2 options

And interesting horn

Cool blue headlight

This says it all

Many riders had period dress...

as did some of the ladies..

These guys were from California

Getting ready to take off...

and Cannonballers from 1910!

And some of the interesting bikes in the parking lot!

cheers
Andy

My hat is off to those guys, 3,000 miles with no suspension, and it looks like your feet are part of the braking system.

The highlight of the trip was riding behind some of them for a few blocks. And yes I was wishing that was me doing it!

Hmmmmm, jodhpurs.   :P
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

Need a better, newer points cover gasket? How about rubber washers for the headlight bucket? Click the link below:

Just saw this thread. My dad and I went down to the harley museum last sunday to see the riders come in. I only got one pic while Before my camera died but I did get video of them riding in:

2012 Cannonball Arrival at the Harley Museum

Another connonballer is the creater of this excellent blog:
http://thevintagent.blogspot.com/
Fun fact: He's riding the only overhead cam bike in the cannonball. He's been experimenting with wet plate photography for a little while now and has posted some of the results on his blog. Cool stuff!
