Be careful out there!

Hit him with the light and right shin, just a thud. I stayed up, deer is dead. Dorothy has broken light bucket and the #4 spark plug cap. I was able to start her up and limp home on 3.

Watch out, the rut is upon us and they act like that

Yeah, it was a small 6 pointer - whitetail. We are so overun with them that the hunting season goes on from October to March. There is more deer in America now than before 1492.

Dogs were funny. When I got back home, they sniffed my pants and went out to check the jeep.

When i hunt I bring the deer back on hitch carrier and they know they get bones and scrap meat from it.

I take the same route pretty much everyday to and fro work.

Going home from work last night, no deer in or on the side of the road......

Come in this morning, and one laying just on the shoulder, and seen several more from the corner of my eye as I passed.

I try to ride as cautiously as possible in this area.

You are a very fortunate man. Where I used to live one of the most gruesome accidents I ever saw(I saw a bunch because I processed photos for the coroners office) was of a rider who hit a deer. The coroner would refer to it when the anti deer hunters would be up in arms...Larry

yeah where i live budlite we dont have deer,,but always on the look out for the odd sheep or dog,,i had to skid the rear wheel the other day at about 25 mph for a dumb arse small kangaroo,ive flattened plenty in trucks! "bull bars" are illegal anywhere else in the world i think?you can fit them on cars 4wd and trucks here,,they are designed to push whats hit down and under the vehicle!we dont need guns,,just all get in line and ill go postal on you suckers,some mob is still trying to get them outlawed here.

I have seen some ugly pictures too. A lady hit a deer on a Harley and he tored her up afterwards, she made it but it wasn't pretty.

One of the reasons I routinely carry when I ride.

Unfortunately deer and motorcycle collisions happen too frequently here in Southern Michigan.Not uncommon at all and usually the outcome is very bad. A nephew of a shop owner called Diggers was killed just down the road from my house while he and a group were on a ride one time.Family fought to at least have a deer crossing sign installed in this lowland pass. You are very lucky and also may be a good testament to your riding skill. Glad you survived unharmed. Eric

The idea of potential deer strikes wake me up better than a cup of joe at dawn and dusk. Ive had 2 near misses at dusk, both in the same area. I am really glad to hear you are OK after your confrontation, and even the ms. Dorothy was relatively unscathed.

- I don't remember much. I can recall him coming from the right and the thud and than I stopped. I believe it is very random what happened. Like if I was able to grab the brake - which I was not - he could have been under the front wheel and I would likely wipe out.

I had a close call in Prague, long time ago. This old gentleman is crossing the street with a box in his hands. Two lanes one way, he is safely in the left lane and I am on my CZ in the right aine. Suddenly gust of the wind takes a piece of paper from that box and flies it in the right lane. The old guy just turns and goes after the paper right in front of me. Luckily there was enough space to go around him, but that was quite an adrenaline rush.

thats why we allow bull bars,,for like,,old guys,,you never see them coming,,then ,,,all of a sudden!!theres some old guy,,in the way!""hey dont be there man"!splatt,great,,now ive got to stop and buy some old guy smudge remover!it still dosent get that mothball smell out though?

Your very fortunate to have made it thru that deer accident! Just last week a rider swerved to miss a deer lost control and flew into a guardrail killing himself instantly. This was just north of Omaha! I ride on that rode on my way home from work, but take a different route on the way too work. Just to damn many animals wondering around when it's so dark in the mornings now..on that stretch of rode.

Wow man, I'm glad you are okay. If you'd still had lefty that deer would have been vaporized before he got any where near you. Great riding and way to be ready for whatever crosses your path!

Glad you're okay '70 I've hit two in different cars. Once in the rain one popped out of a bush ten feet in front of me going 40...didn't even have time to brake

yep,its the norm even in big cities,,its the norm in australia,,that one looks a little lame actually!,,road trains like in the photo dont go into cities,,they might drop a trailer or two first in the outskirts then come back for them and swap over,,in the middle of australia there is nothing,,like nothing at all,,so the guy driving the truck dosent want to go there again,,those bull bars are legal!you can fit them on cars and four wheel drives so long as they dont be dangerous!!!you yanks think oshkosh are tough? dig this man!you wouldnt dare use no "georgia overdrive"in these rigs!!its all flat here anyway!The BIGGEST trucks in the world : Trucking down under

I think we're limited to 2 trailers...no road trains around here..most of it goes by rail.

I lived in Georgia for many years and I found out why there are 3 million deer in that state. In the 1950's the deer population was supposed to be under 500 when they decided to go to Michigan and bring in a couple of hundred whitetails to increase the herd size. Finally the government succeeded in doing something. However there are over 100 deer car accidents PER DAY every year in Georgia. To make up for this unintended result they have now brought in some elk so now when you hit them you and the elk die.
