Yeah that was my Vizsla. He likes to run alongside the bike. Clocked him at 30mph ha ha!

Alright, got some more done over the weekend.
Battery box all cleaned up.

Fuse box all cleaned up.

New tapered neck bearings installed and repainted trees installed.

Spent some time working on the ol girl this weekend.

Sourted through the wiring. I have a few wires that need to be replaced, but they are all easy fixes. I just need to get some factory style connectors.


Got the bars back on. I need to order a new decal for the dummy lights and get a few replacement bulbs. I forgot to take pictures but the Hi/Low beam rocker was broken and the mirror tab was cracked on the left hand controle. The unit i got off eBay was faded really bad so I just replaced the switch in the unit I had and used the bottom part of the housing. Turned out looking ok.


Coils are back on and the brackets are painted.


Went ahead and got the fender and tail light back on as well. Just need to heat shrink the wires and figure out what I'm going to do with the blinkers. I kinda want to run the grab bar but I hate the tabs at the bottom of it for the huge stock blinkers... Ill figure something out.

You could always run an earlier grab bar with the smaller (imo more attractive) turn signals
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.

I didn't think about that. Guess I'll do some eBay searching for a early style. Thanks for the idea!!! And I totally agree with the smaller blinkers.

Alright, made some more progress this week. Swing arm back on with bronze bushings, rear fender mounted, repaired all the damaged termanal connections, and terminated all the connectors.



Seats back on and I cleaned up the tail light wiring.


Oil tank mounted and vent lines ran. Just need to get that dang clutch removal tool to get the clutch in and the oil lines ran.


Put the original side cover on it, man I wish I could find a OEM Planet Blue cover for the fuse box. Most likely going to get some new side covers painted and just have the stock one on the wall some where.


And we are now dealing with the rats nest. Got to go through the wiring diagram to make sure the connections are right. I am going to wait since I need to order blinkers and I need to put new gauge faces in the spedo and tach to finish out the wiring.


I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Just need to get some more cash saved up so I can get the last few parts.

I'll working on restoring a 75 planet blue also. I just hope that mine come out half as nice as yours. Your polishing of the engine parts look great, do have any tips you would like to share with someone whose has never done that type of work before?

Think long and hard about it before you start!! ;D Its not easy. Not sure if I did it the proper way but I wet sanded all the parts in stages from 400 to 1500. This is the part where you have to take your time. Take the time to remove any scratches and make sure all the old factory clear is removed. Once you sand away all the blemishes start polishing. I used a el chepo' buffer from Harbor Freight and alloy polishing compound. I did make a stand to mount it on so I would have more room to move the parts around. This made polishing the larger parts easier.  Pretty much just polish until you are happy. I'll be honest it doesn't take much for the parts to oxidize. I have had to go back and hand polish them a few times since but it looks way better than stock. Plus it will set your CB apart from most of the other bikes around. And thats what its all about!!

Not too sure mate, send them off an email... ;) it seems to protect extremely well, the guitarist from metalica had a custom rod in raw steel that had the stuff put on it and it didn't rust at all, i'm trying to buy some in Australia... ;)

Made a little progress this afternoon. Pulled the clutch out. Got the new disks soaking overnight and hope to re-instal the unit tomorrow.


I went ahead and pulled apart the factory gauges. It actually wasn't that bad. 


Alos have the tank full of vinegar to remove the light surface rust. Gona let it sit overnight and rinse it out in the morning.

Where we are now.


Vinegar works wonders on a slightly rusted tank. I neutralized it and coated the inside with wd40.


Got it in the house to touch up the paint on the emblems. Not bad for stock paint!


Ordered more parts from Bike Bandit and Dime City Cycles to keep me busy over the holidays. Ill post up pics as I go along. Oh yeah I got new gauge faces coming too.

just read through everything. looks excellent! looking at my fuse box panel is a little discouraging as I seem to be missing whole electrical parts...I'll figure it out. keep up the good work. can't wait to see it finished!

Made some more progress today. Got the front forks on finally. To be honest I hate the braces for the front fender but I think I'm just going to run the rear brace and live with it lol. Tons of hand prints on everything but you get the idea.



Blinkers are on as well.











Hopefully next week I will be able to clean the hubs, replace the one broken spoke in the rear, install new wheel bearings, adjust the float heights in the carbs and get them back on the bike, paint the factory airbox and instal it, and tie up the loose ends on the wiring and maybe even test it....Fingers crossed!!! 8)

Still got to wait on new tires, decided on BT-45's in the stock sizes, new o-ring chain, and I'm currently working a deal with another member for a tank and side covers so I can have the thing painted a midnight blue metallic but still have the factory tank and oil bag side cover in really good shape incase I sell it one day.

Finished up rebuilding the gauges tonight. I think they look good. Not to far off stock but more modern.
