Those car carrier drivers are some the biggest morons on the road, and they wonder why truckies get a bad name.  >:(

Bus drivers for highway tour buses do some real bone headed stuff. Seen some aggresive and dangerous stuff. They fly through the city on the freeway 10-20 mph faster than traffic, acting like Super Mario.

Truckies used to be the "Knights of the Road", experienced, courteous, and loved by all. Nowadays most of them are no better than car drivers. I do 1000 klicks a week on average, and I see just as much stupid stuff done by truckies as I do from car drivers.

Just today I had an almost identical situation to Dave's where a garbage truck driver (in one of those compactor trucks that empty the industrial waste bins) overtook me in a 40 KPH "Roadwork" zone on a new bridge, with road workers just metres away from him. What a wanker.  >:(

ha!"knights of the road"yeah its a shame terry,i dont care about the tail gating in the truck, the speeding cause is deadlines and poor old subcontract owner drivers being paid way too low, plus a i think too many have a bad attitude these days, ill post up some b doubles passing at high speed,1000 horses and three overdrives?on a three lane youll be in the middle with one each side boxing you in.

i ordered the same camera as jona,it comes with a #$%* load of mounts etc,i tapped a couple of 4mm threads into the right hand indicator stalk and stuck it there without the bulky water proof case, took it for a test run, works well, good sound, the only thing i dont like is it records in huge MOV files,i have to convert them first to use in my movie program(cyberlink power director)i need the later version that handles the files as they are.

im also taking it easy trying out the brand new rear dunlop 501,i like it,that cage was sort of blocking me,then it looks like hes going to turn right then continues following the road, fair enough i ran the double white lines but it was really really annoying running over lines so i couldnt pass etc.

i reckon they have enough power for the frame,a bit more would be handy doing some of the up hill runs.

Dave,
I am a bit worried about the mount that holds the dash cam,  it all ends by the little notch at the top of the camera, did you try to mount the waterproof  case?  at least it is secured by a screw .

Cheers,

Jona

yeah jona, not shown is an o ring i slipped over the folding mount, then another slipped over the mount once in position, its secured well then,i know what you mean, those simple clips would never be secure enough even inside a smooth car!the water proof case is very cumbersome,i dont ride in the rain anyway,if i got caught in rain id pocket the camera,i think they work well for the money,i set mine to 3 minute cycles, that way you can easily find the interesting section better than one long recording.

i drilled and tapped two four mm threads into the indicator stalk, then chopped and drilled that folding mount to suit, sorry about the focus, couldnt be bothered with macro.

here i have a large o ring double over and wrapped around the camera and the folding section.

then once its lifted up but not snapped closed because the o ring prevents it i used another o ring to keep it up into position, its very safe and solid, thats the first thing that crossed my mind, the snap in clips are very feeble, its a good cheap camera so far.

You did well drilling and tapping into your indicator stalk Dave, did you do it on the bike or take it off? Cheers, Terry. ;D

Dave, the camera does nice shots. Looks like it was worth the money.
Slick mounting, just keep tabs on that mount, if it were to break that would be bad.

I think I would have used the waterproof case, rather than risk a bug or stone from taking out the CCD lens.

Just have to pick up another red one for the other stalk to run dual cameras. Or, mount a second one facing backwards to view you and the road behind. So, you have footage of a cager if they decide to run you down.
According to one study in California where lane splitting is common (compared to Texas and Florida) the accident rate from being hit from behind (while stopped) was 30% higher in states without lane splitting.

Is your bike stock or modified? If modified, what have you done to the motor?

the water proof case is a lump rafster,i know what you mean about the lens though, that engine is a 12 month old rebore 1st over size and cleaned up head ports,it also runs a boyer micro power ignition,it has a four into one pipe with an aussie "transac"megaphone i made up a straight through glass wool packed perforated tube muffler for it,stock cam etc,38 and 100 jets in type one carbs,it goes just right,i really wouldnt want any more power in those twisties, thats when you wish you were going slower,as i said a bit more for the up hills would be nice.
