Got this link forwarded along from my dad. I guess he was reminiscing about the old days when attendants would check your oil, clean your windshield and pump your gas for $0.25/ gallon...

Wow...thanks for the link. Reminds me of the 1970's when I worked at a DX station in town while in high school. Just finishing up a restore on a 1950's Texaco pump for the shop. Here is a pic of my next project pump in the trailer yet.

Buildings, autos, pumps, clothing... It's a shame things nowadays don't have the same sort of charm and beauty built into them. Being young I like to imagine what life would have been like in the past.

You can still get to this station, pictured in the montage with the shiny travel trailer, but no VPower or Super Shell comes out of the pumps anymore:

Yep, thats the one. They have a vintage ride/meet early in June (ride June 8th meet June 9 2013) that I have been trying to get to.

I remember 5 gallons for a buck at a station around Worcester when I was a nipper, partially because I remember there was a joint called Hot Dog Annies that sold 5 dogs for the same price. I just looked and Annies still exists in Leicester!

The town I grew up in was one mile long and there where at least 7 gas stations that were similar, now most are gone-replaced by one mega station with no service. At one time those stations had a gas war-gas went down to seventeen cents a gallon before the owners decided enough and raised it back to 28...Larry

Ben, sounds like we needs a ride out there to relive your past and grab some dogs. Probably not 5 for a buck anymore though...

I remembered when I was a teen, my first girlfriends (MOM) had a Chrysler Imperial that took about 22 gals of gas and we could fill it up for about 6 bucks.Gas was 22 cents a gal and over 100 octane. THE GOOD OLD DAYS.

I remember full service gas stations very well but what I remember the most growing up in the southwest suburbs of Chicago was Dukes Drive In in Bridgeview, it was were all the serious street racers and custom cars would hang out on the weekends. Dukes is still there and has since morphed itself into a horse power mecca where every weekend in the summer is literally a car show.

Anybody from the midwest remember US 30 dragstrip "where the great ones run"?
