Bill/Jim, its official at Commerce. Even playing field the whole season and a good chance at going to the Division 2 NHRA team bracket finals.

offering a Street ET class with rules that mirror the MIROCK, Manufacturers Cup and NHDRO series,

Guys, I'm not sure about the NHDRO rules but how can AIDs Street ET rules mirror MIROCK and Manufacturers rules when MIROCK rules don't allow Samauto in Street ET  ???

They allowed Samauto to run there last season. Don't stir anything up Sam!!!  We won't tell if you don't.

Yes Billy, we were pi$$ed off when they made us ride in Pro ET but look how satisfying it was when you took out a big gun on a Pro ET bike with the Street ET Samauto, ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
With a bit of luck, Paul might have a word with Atlanta and they might adopt the Man Cup rules allowing the Auto in Street ET
But in respect of doing it the other way round and being disqualified is a big NO NO.
If you were to go all the way and then get kicked out, think how the poor guys that you beat in the earlier rounds would feel knowing they had wasted their time racing with a cheat, remember the Gadson Teasly fiasco at Valdosta, They fcuked up the whole competition just for their own selfish need to know how fast the bike was with a lightweight jockey. >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Billy, I know you wouldn't cheat deliberately but if the rules are unclear, they should be put right.
Although MIROCK and ManU rules are the same, they are interpreted differently when it comes down to OEM torque converters.

Here is Paul's post on Dragbike.com that I couldn't access when Frank posted about this.

There will be two classes finally at Atlanta Dragway. Mike Savage is going to allow us to try something new and see where it goes. Questions have been coming up about a couple of things and I want to try and answer them to try and stop confusion before we even get off the ground with it.

The first question pertains to running in both classes. I understand this question as MIROCK, the Manufacturers Cup NHDRO as well as some of the one a year money races allow this. Most people want to enter in both classes because they have traveled to be at these races and want to get in as much racing as possible for the weekend.

Atlanta Dragway is introducing this as parts of their Summit Points series, it is not an all motorcycle event like what is mentioned above. It will have car classes also. We as motorcycle racers have to recognize this and run our class in a way not to disrupt the schedule. To do this we will allow the ability to race in both classes, but you must use two different bikes. This way one bike will be prepped and ready to go while the other bike is being ridden and stop you from having to go back to your pit area refuel the bike put it on fans, air up the tires or whatever.

The second set of questions pertains to the Street ET rules. The rules will be the same as the MIROCK, Manufacturers Cup and NHDRO rules. This will give us a wider audience of racers to attract and most everyone who races in Street ET is familiar with these rules. AS an example I have attatched the Manufacturers Cup rulles below.

STREET ET CLASS REQUIREMENTS
DESIGNATION: SET, followed by rider number.
CLASS DESCRIPTION
Street E.T. is open to street legal bikes only. The class is run in an E.T. bracket racing format and is a great class for the novice racer to gain valuable racing experience.
POINTS
This class will be a points class at all MANUFACTURERS CUP events.
FORMAT
This is an E.T. bracket class run on a .500 full tree. This is an all run field.
BRAKES
Front brakes are required.
CHAIN GUARDS
Chain guards are required on all entries.
ELECTRICAL
2-steps, delay boxes and electronic throttle stops are prohibited.
LIGHTS
All motorcycles must have a functional OEM headlight or aftermarket headlight. All motorcycles must have a functional OEM tail light or aftermarket tail light. Flash lights are not permitted to be used a headlight or tail light.
CLUTCH
Clutch must be hand activated, and have enough static clutch pressure to stall the engine when the clutch is released at 1200 rpm with the front brake applied (same as PST). If this is the case, they are legal.
TIRES
DOT street tires only are permitted. All tires must have visible tread. DOT slicks are not permitted.
WHEELIE BARS
Wheelie bars are prohibited.
GROUND CLEARANCE
All bikes must have a minimum of 2” ground clearance with rider sitting on bike, straight up perpendicular to the ground.
GENERAL SAFETY
All riders must have a SNELL 95 or higher full face helmet, shoes above the ankle, leather gloves, and a leather jacket. Any rider running faster than 10.99 must also have leather pants. Pants and jacket are not required to be zipped together. Nylon or textile jackets and pants are not permitted, even if they have pads. All jackets and pants must be made of 100% leather.

I will start another thread on this subject so we can field all the questions there.

I'll try to talk to Paul a bit more on this subject. The hand clutch rule is there to exclude aftermarket convertible sliders like the Hayes units.

Samauto is a factory torque converter type clutch, not a typical aftermarket centrifugal slider unit ( MTC/Hayes) so i hope he keeps that under consideration.

Does anyone know if Chad won a Street ET MiRock event? There's got to be some reason that they are anti torque converters? Vic Force is the only other person in the region who has done relatively well with a 'matic. He had a couple of runner ups in Street ET with earlier Manufacturer's Cup events.
