There is a God......and I believe, whole heartedly.
« on: February 06, 2013, 02:27:34 PM »
I ride the 750 to work this morning...........no problems.

Go out, at 3:30 pm to go home. Fire it up, pull out, got to stop at the end of the row.....no rear brake.

Damn......use front brake that squeals like hell.........stopped.....whewwww.

The hardware that connects the brake rod to the brake pedal is missing.

Geeeeeezz......wtf.........rode it home on the back roads......made it.....otherwise, I wouldn't be typing this right now.
If it ain't raining, I'm riding.....~~{iii}?~~prost

Glad you're still here!

Remember your basic rider course? Squeeze- push. Step- pull. Check, and check. Off you go. :)

Sounds like someone was pulling a cruel joke. Do you have enemies at work? With the 750 it is pretty much impossible for that bolt to unscrew itself on that rear brake system at the hub.

It wasn't the one at the hub, it was the on that connects to the brake pedal itself under the swing arm pivot.

Got enemies.....none smart enuf to do something like that.

Why do you use the rear brake in the first place ?  :-*
I don't mean you don't need a rear brake, but if using the 80/20 rule there should not be much problem.

glad everything worked out for you !
Please ! Take a look and give me feedback in my project thread, its much needed :)

Thanks everyone........I do the 80/20.

My front brake squeals like the dickens, so I tend to squeeze it lightly and apply the rear slightly at the same time.

I do a walk around.............just never really thought to check that.

Mind you....it will be from here on out.

Now I just have to find something to put in there.

When was the last time you removed your rear wheel? Or did somebody else work on your bike?

The last time was back in december when I installed swing arm bushings, I just never figured looking at that pin.

As I was installing the new pin, the one that I thought fell off the bike fell out from somewhere. The little cotter pin is still in it but both ends have been broken off.

bumpa.

am in the middle of a full refresh on my cb350f and tonight i was installing all the rear brake hardware, including the brake stay and brake rod.  on disassembly i noted the brake rod connector pin can't be removed (or installed) unless the shocks are disconnected and the swingarm is raised fully and the tire contacts the underside of the frame.  the cotter pin hole is on the outside, opposite the swingarm.

this means that when installed properly, the brake rod connector pin is trapped and can't back out even if the cotter pin fails.  this designed-in safety feature makes sense to me, and thought i'd pass it along.  might be cb350f only, no idea.  might be worth a look tho.

Hey, thanks man...................not sure it's that way on the 750.

I was able to install the pin and another cotter pin, just a bear to do.

Did not have to remove anything.

I do have a 350f too, I'll check that one out now, as soon as I get back from Daytona....................

I'm confused. Are you saying God took the cotter pin out?

God saved him from becoming a greasy bloody spot by having the problem appear before the ride and speed commenced...
