well the story continues as they found that the aftermarket regulator/rectifier is bad (Electrosport) ordered a new one
and a new OEM to make sure its not just the aftermarket one
will keep everyone posted

Jim
Jim....you want GOOD luck....not BAD luck. ;) I'll be honest.....the GS's were never known for stout charging systems to begin with. I have replaced quite a few stators and Reg/Rec units
and they think the RF might be coming from the bad R,R..............not sure but it has to be replaced

One of the Gs bikes got on the dyno yesterday and yes the cam timing was WAY off
This has a Mike Reick head (GS 850 head with mikes porting, under bucket shims and all of the good valve train stuff)
840 kit with cams and 32 mm flat slides.
stock, this motor makes 61HP and the last time we put it on the dyno it made a whopping 62 with this set up.
got the cam timing figured out (Its been so long sense I have worked on this bike that I forgot who did the cam timing)
and I dont know how too so I am not even going to try this. (Thanks David Fletcher for helping me)
Now it makes 81 with the carbs being very lean. going to change with mid range and the mains and get the carbs
back up and on the bike and back on the dyno. so far so good
well keep you posted

Brian seems to think about 5 more, but 23/25 Hp gain is not bad

I have a GS 750 classic-roadrace bike in my shop, someone installed hi-po cams but didn't know how to do timing properly... not sure if I know how to do it properly but I think I have an idea, thanks to MRieck  ;)
Interesting to see what it's capable of before and after cam timing...

By the way, ECR Racing in Finland is building a FJ based supercharged funnybike...

If it is using stock crankshaft, it will break them.

I'm sure they will break a lot of sh1t in a hurry and do that many, many wonderful times...

There you go Jim. ;) 62 to 86...funny what cam timing and jetting can do. I'd like to see the chart when you are done. Most of the people that complain about losing all their midrange torque for "explosive" top end with most aftermarket cams really don't know much about either of those subjects. ;D

The funny thing about the top end mike is that at 10K RPM, the graft hasn't leveled off, its still climbing and making HP
The crank has been welded and balanced but 10K is a good stopping point.
I will post all of the read outs when its done,

Jim

Yes. I think it could pinch 90 with a few more RPM's.....like 500 or maybe 750. $hit....the crank is welded!
