"Very nice and totally worth the price!  Did they clear-coat over the decals?"

The paint is stunning. We are lucky that Honda chose colors 40 years ago that still look amazing. Does anyone know if those stripes would look right on a 550F tank given the different shape. I'm not doing a restoration.

Wow. Parts look great.

Did they restore the emblems for you for that cost? I had a quote for about $600 from a local shop here to do a similar to original (but not an exact original color) paint for my k4. The later bikes don't require the headlight bucket or fork ears to be painted though so that sounds about right.

No   Price was for paint and stripe only   emblems not included.

As already mentioned they did a great job. Did you go with Franken's new sidecovers or are those originals.Probably if I was going that nice those new more durable covers sound like a good ticket.

Mike at Vintage Honda Painting suggested to not use originals because even if they are not broke they are so old and brittle that
you may end up breaking or cracking them after painting them.  The new repros are much more flexable and are virtually identical.
I bought the repros from Mike.  Not sure where he gets them, but I know they are not frakens.  Very high quality piece though.

Everything looks outstanding.  Did Mike reinstall the hinged gas cap?  The special rivets are a bit tricky to peen over, and with brand-new paint right there, one slip can spell disaster.

Your bike is going to glow when you get that bodywork back on.  Make sure to post pics.

Hondaman sells a gas cap kit for reattaching the cap. It's just a bolt with a acorn nut but works perfect.
I recently reused the rivet on one.  I put plenty of painters tape on the tank to prevent any accidents while I peened the rivet.

My thoughts exactly.   The cap isn't that hard to put on, but like you say One slip and &%$*   Easy choice to make as Mike
supplied the cap and installed it for $50.00  about what a new cap plus shipping would have cost me anyway.

I did it the hard way when I restored my CB360T a few years ago.  I wrapped the tank in a towel and had my dad help hold things while I carefully peened over that $8 Honda rivet.  I was pretty nervous about slipping, but luckily it all worked out fine.

Sounds like Mike offers a lot of value-added services in addition to the beautiful paint work.  Smart man...

I don't have that talent and if I had done it myself it would have looked like a monkey painted it with a stick.

The paint looks awesome KC!
I'll post a pic up of how bad a Gold Honda paint job can go wrong.
My Buddy from Houston paid 900 bucks plus shipping to the Detriot area for the wrong color Gold on the bike on the left... :'( Ouch

Those CT's are KO models with the speedo/headlight as 1 unit. The K1 you have on your post Eric has a seperate speedo and headlight the first year for that..
The sad thing about that 900 dollar paint job gone wrong is the painter didn't stand behind his work, and my Buddy with the CT's has every color CT KO model Honda produced and everyone of them has less than 500 original miles on them. So he anted this bike to be totally correct in every way :'(

Don't know to much about those but sure seem to be a lot of collectors, sounds like your friend sure does. 900.00 is a big hit for somebody's mistake. I used to have a furniture repair/refinishing shop and sometimes you just have to eat one when you make a big mistake which the painter should do.

Agreed, but that cost is normal for a CT70. Much more painting is required than just the side covers and the tank on "Fat Stripe" later 750's
