I like this Holden.

That was never a production car, its a one off called the Efijy, it was loosely based on the Holden FJ from around 1950....

I had a pristine 1970 Pontiac Grand Prix which was basically a whale of a car, lots of chrome and weighing a tad over 2 tons. I used to love pulling up to intersection next to a new Pontiac GP which were about half the size of mine and hearing the passengers saying "OMG, that car is a GP too!!!"

I have never heard of a Holden. I did a Google search and found some cool Hot Rod muscle cars and some ugly lame ones. Which one do you have? lol

holdens got exported to sth africa and indoneasia etc, some had grilles changed etc and badged as chevs!mine was built in dandenong victoria, ive had it 30 years, the engine bay is clean now though,i have 253 cubic inch on the air filter while its actually a bored to 312 inches 308 motor,it has an edelbrock manifold, erson cam and larger valves etc.

it should have four tail lights but its been modified with six, thats how i bought it,the original owner had it done.

the first v8 holdens used the 307 and 327 chevs, with a glide or saginaw 4 speed, muncies aswell, the 350 chev was a tick the box option up to my model, you could order two sixes,a 173 or 202,or two holden v8 motors, the 253 and 308,or be brave and tick the 350 box!

It's good to see that you've still got it after 30 years Dave, I had a HG Monaro with HK Bathurst drive train back in the 80's but I sold it when I broke a rear axle in the 12 bolt diff and bought an XY with GTHO engine and drive train, and it was much more "user friendly".

I've got a worked 4V Cleveland 351 hidden under a blanket in my mother in laws garage, and when I eventually "inherit" my Dad's 1984 XF Falcon wagon with it's original 65,000 miles, I think I might slip the clevo under the bonnet for a bit of "sleeper" fun......... Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

Is the 253 and 308 unique to Holden or is it another spin of a SBC and are the parts interchangeable with other SBC's? I've played around with my fair share of chevy's but I've never heard of a 253 or 308.

They are an Aussie engine only mate, some chevy pistons fit but apart from that they are all Aussie...  The 308 is a great engine, actually, with a bit of work the 253 can be made to go hard as well.... ;)

Chevy made a small V8 307, but only for about 5 years, was not a very good motor. It replaced the 283 which was a great motor.
