Discovered one hell of an oil leak. And a dry fuel tank after only about 170ish miles. Something is most definitely up with my fuel delivery. oil smells like gas, gas is being consumed very rapidly....
Oil leak is under the left side stator cover. I changed the gasket a month ago, But it appears to be leaking from two bolts. Not sure if I can o-ring these or what. maybe some RTV on the gasket too? Who knows.

I did order a set of bar end mirrors and new grips (I hate the ones I have). I bought a new points plate, condensers and points too. Just to get me by until I get my fancy Hondaman transistor thingamajig.

Next to order will be rear shocks and maybe a set of side covers from FB. I guess we will see. Until then Its a waiting game... Shamefully I blew my tax return on all the crap I just pulled off. Live and learn.

No Idea... Was on it when I bought it. Id assume a GS of some sort.... It fits perfectly. So maybe its just a Suzuki seat cover on a CB pan? Who knows...

Got my points plate installed. Working on setting them with an ohm meter today. Hoping to get around to adjusting my valves as well. I made a home made manometer so if everything else goes well today maybe I will even get it synched.... I'm hoping I got the Manometer right. I guess we will see... I'll post pics of whatever progress I make later....

Well, got the points spot on. Thank God thats over with. Now I have to synch carbs, at some point. Wife and kids are gone to California for two weeks, and while that leaves me ample time to do whatever I want, I have instead spent two days inside, drinking beer and marveling at the wonders of a quite house. NO noise but a buzzing fan. Takes me back to the days as a bachelor...

Maybe I'll kick on some Flogging Molly and get at it....

there That did the trick.
I installed a new set of grips cause the set I had on was driving me nuts. Then I got prepped to carb synch, got my stuff together and started her up. decided I would spin her around the block to warm it up. RAN AMAZING!
Thought "What are the chances?" So I turn around the block, down the back road and head out to the county road. Good response, give a little throttle,  40-50-60-70-80... Hell of a deal... Awesome. I know my fuel is low cause I drained the tank a few days ago. So that cut my ride short... But damn I feel good. It sounds good, rides good even with the old worn shocks on the 4 miles of dirt it took me to get to the county road.

Here's my modular seat option for those who care...

The front mount can remain in place and I can re-install my stock seat for a passenger.

I just drilled two hole aft of the battery to line up with the seat springs.

I attached through-spring bolts to the seat springs with enough thread to sit inside the rear bolt holes and thread a nut and lock washer on.

Pretty simple set up. Along with rear struts and different bars it takes me about 10 minutes to swap from cafe/standard to bobber.

rode the piss out of the old dog today. 85mph most of the way. The exhaust wrap I have on the headers smokes like hell for a few minutes after I shut the bike off. WTH? Seriously thinking of removing it.

Went back to a bobber. But I put lowering brackets on and re-installed the shocks. Added a Viper fairing, which I absolutely love. Seen some mixed reviews on them, and I had my doubts but I enjoy it. Still got to scrape a few more dollars to get some side covers from the Franken, and a HondaMan ignition. But other than a few random electrical screw ups, she's running, daily, like a bat out of hell

Hahahaha. I do love that show. It would be great to see an old honda on there. But something tells me their H-igh D-ollar sponsor wouldn't be thrilled.  :-X

Well, in everything I have done and undone I somehow caused or uncovered an electrical issue. Shorted a few wires somehow in the tail light. Caused the fuse to keep blowing.  Then it started blowing my main fuse. So i removed all of the tail light wiring, took the opportunity to install an old ford style single bullet tail light. Put it on its own fuse with a switch, as I did with the head light. Put some shorter springs on the seat to get the back of the seat down a little (it was too high with the rear lowered, kept sliding me towards the tank).
Weather last night said today would be a beautiful sunny day. Now I am watching my bike take a bath in a serious thunderstorm. My road is a muddy creek right now. I don't assume this is going to let up anytime soon. I'm not one to complain about the rain, we need all the water we can get, but today? I could use a couple hours of dry....
