What is "nice" about where you live?
« on: June 02, 2013, 04:07:52 PM »
Me,
the neighbors are great. We can host a loud party & they are fine with it
as I don't say anything when they party.

"Vermont is SO pretty." God I hate it when I hear that,
but the people seem to be ok, at least most of the non-natives,
IE, those that don't have 3 generations of history in the area.  8)

peace,
michel

Me:

No neighbors within 100 yards.

Beautiful view of lake and hills off back deck.

Fantastic roads for riding less than a mile away.

I'm pretty much a straight-up suburban dad at this phase of my life.  What's "nice" about where I live is it's close to several parks and a bike trail, good schools, low crime, and my whole family all lives within 10 miles so we get to see each other often and my kids get to grow up around grandparents, aunts, uncle and cousins.

I am 20 minutes from the Great Sandy Straits, some of the best fishing grounds on the East coat of Australia.  Also in the background in the photo you can see Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world.  In the foreground you will also see the best thing to come out of the UK, who I live with and will be getting married to in 3 months ;D

Good on you Blue, hope it works out. Coming up to 46 years it's much akin to riding a bike, ups, downs, curves, fast, slow, demands finesse, muscles, and there are some times that lift you beyond the plane of ordinary existence.

Bill I've been there once before, but for the wrong reasons.  I was young, dumb and full of... well you get the idea and she was pregnant.  That one ended badly after 6 years and 3 kids.  This time it is for the right reasons, I hope, she is also great with the kids and they think the sun shines out her arse.  ;D

I live 2.5 miles from a small community ,with Grocery store,Drug store ,medical pretty much everything you would need but you wouldn't know it once you turn down my road. I'm 2.5 miles from the interstate and there are enough TREES around me you don't even hear the traffic. I have 1.5 acres, a house with an attached 2 car garage, a detached 2 car garage for MY shop and a basement garage. I can sit on my back deck and shoot beer cans off the back fence and NOBODY will call the law on me. GOOD riding roads, Great Smokies 2 hours west of me and Atlantic 3 hours east of me.  What is is needed!!!!

There is a bar on practically every corner.  You could live your entire life here and never scratch the surface.  Good thing, because you need to be drunk to live here.

Can ride all year long.

If you don't mind the rain.............you can.

Me......as my signature states:

"If it ain't raining,  I'm riding......"

But:........................................once I get this little cb100 going......that statement may become obsolete.

We'll see.
If it ain't raining, I'm riding.....~~{iii}?~~prost

If it sounds like I know what I'm talking about, it's because I cut and pasted from someone else.

I live 43 road miles from the Empire State building. It is another World here. We have woods, and windy country roads. We even have 3 - 4 farms. Deer, Foxes, Turkeys run through the yard. There has never been a robbery on my street, and the Cops rarely patrol here. The Chief of Police lives around the Corner.

When I need the "City" it is there, when I want to be quiet, we stay here. Our population is mostly people who grew up in the City and many work there. We like it here and we work at keeping it nice.

We have a large population of NYPD Officers and Brass living here, and also some high ranking organized crime people. When I said we work at keeping it nice, we do.   ;D

Not much.  Live in a broke city, located in a broke county, located in a broke state.  Potholed roads,  #$%* neighbors located 8 feet away from me complete with barking dogs and pot smoking friends.  Can't afford to move.  Other than the mentioned items, the weather improved.

Yes.  Built in the 1850's and listed as a national historic landmark. It is gigantic.  It was really cool to take a tour when i was a kid.  They would take you right out on the floor.  Now they have everything blocked off and you have to look through windows. :(

We do have some nice things here.  The St. Louis Art Museum, Zoo, Botanical Gardens, Science Center, Forest Park are all world class and free.

Wife is from MI too (Port Huron)  - somehow I knew what you are talking about before I checked your location.  Quite a shame what happened to Michigan.
