More goodies picked up...

I've run into an issue for the rear shocks.... I ordered ones a tad bigger than stock yet it still seems low... hmm

Quick mock up... I think I will have to make a custom seat....

Should I angle the shocks? Some insight as to which stance to go with is much appreciated...

Are you giving any thought to running a modern rear wheel as well? I love the Benelli tanks... You have a great build going!

Looking good! I like a longer lay down shock set up,looks and works better than shocks straight up, of course we would all like to try a mono shock set-up, but the lay downs look good too.
Before you weld up , don't forget that you have no engine weight ,height may be effected if you plan it on an empty cradle.

Great insight RB... Should I install the engine prior to welding?

Tews - slanted/straight in shock? Slanted looks better on your build. Remember you are moving the rider weight between the shock and the tank only and removing the rear passenger. Supporting only the rider now, the shock boss can move forward.

Height - bear in mind the the temper the angle, the shorter the shock will lay. Can you/did you adjust the damping on huge shock to "extend" it? May make a bit of difference in rider height. Also, final clearance will be affected by tire height.

I don't to inktxhe engine weight will play enough part in the clearance on the rear hoop to worry about (at least it didn't on my bike, and I removed the entire back half also for a custom hoop).

(Personally, I would decrease the slant you show in the picture as it reduces the overall effectiveness oft e shock in that orientation. Maybe something between 65-75 degrees).

Bike looks very killer!

Thanks everyone.... I do have some free time in the morning.. I could scrub the engine down and take off the head and cylinders.... My only concern is how do I store it if I am not getting the work done right away? Would it be safe to store in my basement back room with a dehumidifier that runs constantly?

Sure.  It's mostly aluminum, what's your concern? Just don't leave em sittin in the snow all winter!

Oh no, I meant that the engine will have the top end off and in the basement where the dehumidifier constantly runs. I don't want to have the engine get rust on it.

I'd spray it with WD and cover with a towel. No prob.

I also tried my hand at making my own seat... I sprayed with loctite adhesive yet it is not that sticky.
