thats the way to do it Terry.    Most old things aren't worth much.  More sentimental value but,

you'll get a hell of alot more than a dealer gives you. My area of "expertise", i use the term loosely is Australian pre-decimal coins.

If anyone has some they can PM me and i'd be happy to help out with potential values etc, keep this in mind

if you have a kilo of pennies a dealer will offer $5 -$15 for them.

I have a few aussie pennies from the mid 1800s which I think are the pommy ones anyway,well worn,a florin and a few others.

That's a good point, my ma has got a coin collection that an old guy gave her back in the 1930's, there's "Holey Dollars" and Roman coins and all sorts of other coins, I must pull them out one day and check 'em out! Cheers, Terry.

this is a short list of the copper coins.    1/2 penny- 1923, 1916 mule(huge money) plus high grade king george the fifth coins...
  penny 1925, 1930 ,1946 are key dates, the 30 being the big one, plus most high grade(near uncirculated or better) king george the fifth which is 1911 to 36..

terry if your mum has a real holey dollar and dump, its big time and would cause a stir in the australian coin world. the big auction houses would climb over each other to get it into their auction.

This is my old mans welder, which was was his old mans, which is still in use.
He thinks it goes back to either the 50's or 60's. High, medium and low is all you get for settings. As heavy as a brick #$%*house.

I think that the only good use of a cigarette is to cardarize an open wound.  If it's a big one, use a cigar.

Actually....I read a very interesting article about how a scientist discovered a way of using a used cigarette filter as a supercapacitor. Something about the carbon nano tubes working as a great holder of a charge...even better than the most modern conventional techniques...a used butt. There was more to it. Cook at 200 degrees in an ammonia environment. Google it and amaze your friends.

No, I've heard of that. Chemically, it's similar to something used in ERs.  Back in my wrenchin' days, I worked with a dude that would just tape it up a cut with electrical tape.

I still have plenty of tools , I need to minimize my collection. The thing with machinist tools is..  they are addictive. Need need more. I've got a sine plate that I've never used but love the quality of it.
