Well it is time for my annual long mileage trip. Last year was just over 2,500 miles and this year seems like it will be just under 4,000 miles.
The plan is to leave Central CA on 7/7/13 and begin the trip in earnest on 7/8/13. From CA will make my way to Oregon then Washington then into British Columbia, through Idaho and back around to CA.
Still working on all the actual roads (I prefer a loose idea of the route and then change it around as my mood dictates). This ride I will not be solo but have picked up a BMW rider (figure I can siphon off his gasoline if I run low

). Hoping to pick up some SOHC-4 riders (Jimmy and Greg are possibilities) along the way.

Glad your trip has not had some of the "adventures" you had earlier getting Dash sorted before the trips. Great pics and trip from the story thus far...
Advil or Aleve make the soreness more bearable, fwiw.

I have definitely found my way to the Aleve aisle. Hitting 3000 miles thus far has been an adventure in and if itself. I will be posting a few choice pictures when I return to CA.

Hi Andy. The knee is fine so far. It was the new Langlitz leather pants. They were tucked into my riding boots (by design) but did not give me any room when I got into the riding position for give while riding. They did stretch but they never would have stretched enough. They are making me a different pair now that do not tuck in. Great guys and good customer service. I of course haven't worn them since the second day.
So far over 3000 miles and the bike is doing well. I'm exhausted but Dash is hanging in there. Ha ha.

Ah yes I can see how that would restrict movement and blood supply. My own custom leathers that I had made back in 1997 still fit but only just - a bit tight on the waist but the length is great. Nothing like having custom leathers - worth the investement for years of use. I hope you didnt get the Rangers:

Sounds like you are having a great time and really enjoying the scenic photos on your blog. You have got me thinking about next year and a trip to Alaska....

It's great to hear your having a good and save trip Lisa. Been checking out your website and keeping up with your ride. Beautiful pics by the way. It's good to hear that Dash has done his part and hasn't let you down over the 3000 miles

Hi all: I am exhausted! Dash (my CB550) rode exactly 4, 040 miles without any mechanical issues. It did wonderfully.

With Fun Jimmy in Vancouver (what a kind hearted host) he invited me into his home sight unseen. Check out his 550. He rides super crazy fast!

Next year I am going to Tombstone and New Mexico. I am calling it my "Cowboy and Indian Tour"

A bike trip to AZ sounds good, but not during the summer heat.

Great write up and photos. Keep ratcheting the bar higher on the photos.

Tombstone will not allow vehicles on the street that is the tourist attraction but there are plenty of historic buildings and Boot Hill could be photographed with Dash. Charleston Road between Sierra Vista and Tombstone is fun if it is not traffic encumbered. Bisbee and its colorful character, steps, and saloons and the microbrews are recommended if you like beer. Then plan on visiting and possibly staying in Sonoita, AZ. The wineries in the El Freida area and Sonoita area are respectable and they have a couple good restaurants that are unique in Sonoita.
By May the daytime temps are consistently in the 90s or higher and it is not uncommon to see 100 before the end of May in Tucson and Phoenix. Better to consider a trip in April or in October or later. The monsoon season also would dampen the travels a bit during the summer making it less pleasant. But this would work against you for New Mexico as its higher altitude typically has it being cooler.

No kidding, not wanting to go in the summer. Was thinking April or October. Those seem like good months. But I would prefer to start on April 1st (because no one would believe me

My wife Laura and I enjoyed a wonderful evening with Lisa & Rocky on their trip to Canada. The weather was perfect for sipping Tequila and Margaritas on the deck while telling tales of our reckless childhoods.

At some point the conversation turned to the crazy culinary delights of Pop Tarts and a few other childhood fav's. I haven't seen or tasted a Pop Tart in decades and my kids only know them from commercials, but as we walked up the stairs after retuning from vacation last night we found this mystery package.

You meet the nicest people on a Honda!

Pop-Tarts are a nice treat from time to time, but man are they sweet. Some of my favorite flavors you have there...
The white iced chocolate ones (or is it white centered chocolate iced chocolate ones) are good too.
Toasted they taste better I think.

Hope Lisa enjoys her SW tour of AZ and NM (next year?) as it can be a fun place to ride and visit.

Rafster: yes the Cowboy and Indian tour is for 2014 I am looking forward to it and have received a lot of ideas from fellow SOHC-4 riders which has been very helpful.

The non-frosted strawberry and brown sugar cinnamon I like better than frosted ones. The fudge frosted chocolate are good with a glass of milk.

The Cowboys & Indians Tour should be a fun one.
Scottly might know some roads up near him or Phoenix that are more fun. The road from Flaggstaff down to Sedona has some great curves and views if you are going to swing by that part of Northern AZ. Sedona is pretty and has some great sights and eclectic shops and expensive shops...
Are you doing Northern AZ on this trip? As the painted desert, Monument Valley, 4-Corners and lots of other sights could easily fill a trip for that area and Northern NM.
