Topic: cb650 81 head and 80 slide carbs

Hi Folks,

I have read that one can use the Ninja 600cc carb boots on a 79 or 80 head to attach CV carbs.  I am in the opposite situation.  I have a 81 CB650 head and slide (PD) carbs.  Anyone know if I can use the Ninja carb boots to mount these?

Carbs won't fit the boots, different diameter.  Get the right carbs for your bike

The carbs are correct, it's a 1980 CB650C.  It's the head that is from an 81.  I had bent valves so picked up a new head not thinking about the carbs.  Looks like I'll be pulling the valves off the 81 and putting them in the original head.  What a pain in the ass.

See if you can pick up some CV carbs, you'll like the increase in low end response   I think the DOHC 750 carbs have the same spacing as the CV 650's
