My beloved 86 Vmax. Dale Walker frame braces, Dale Walker full exhaust, Stage 7 induction, Hayabusa six pot calipers, billet bits scattered about, extra Chrome bits scattered about. PPG Obsession Red. Lots of love went into this one.  I have had six Gen1 Vmaxes. This one is the best I ever had.

Thanks. It has been a labor of love. What's personal touches, some unique, some broadly employed. 1200 electric fuel pump and hydraulic clutch actuation are among the more subtle modifications that made a big difference.

This shot was the first time I rolled it out of the garage after completing the build.  I have since put 25,000 miles on it and it has been through some changes. But the overall format hasn't changed.

Thanks guys.  Never had this one at the strip.  Sure did spend some time there with previous ones...

Given the current state of tune, likely in the neighborhood of 125ish RWH. Should run 10.70 - 10.80 all day long - assuming I'm not asleep on the line.

I sure have terrorized friends and neighbors, alternatively intentional and accidental.

Nice bikes, I think the early GL’s are under rated. Solid platform and engine.

mine showed 125bhp rear wheel with the old engine, unfortunately the horses proved to be stronger than the gearbox on that one

My 78 Goldwing, on a run to Prescott, Arizona.

nice Wing desert refuge…
I like Wings a lot.
We should go take a rideup to visit Scottly in Dewey-Humbolbt sometime…
Maybe camp somewhere up there and all 3 + of us take a longer ride on Sunday before heading home?
Scott is a great guy if you have never met him…

I wanna put a lathe Scott has to work for a day to modify a front hub for a FunJimmy inspired RestoMod of my 74 cb550 with R6/FZ06 front forks & brakes…
The hub work is the $$ part I do not have for the job… then there are spacers and hub bearing carriers to make which are easy, the time consuming part is modifying the stock hub…

Maybe next sometime next month?

Sure sounds like a plan to me.  We'll need to huddle prior.  But I have a little bit of tinkering to do on that Oldwing before it's ready for another road trip. Has been on LOTS of them, but ran into a slight problem a couple months back. We'll talk about it.  Easily remedied.

I better post this pic while I've still got my BMW R1100RT, as it might be going away for good, tragically. I rode it 2180 Km (1362.5 miles) over four days, and had a great ride, but hit a huge pothole @ 60MPH and did a bit of damage. Great bike though, if the insurance company writes it off, I might have to buy another one. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Thanks Bill, it's definitely my favourite long distance bike at the moment, imagine doing that distance on my Ducati! ;D

Thanks Per, yep the poor old thing took a beating but it still ran like a swiss watch. I was cruising at 80+ MPH each day and it didn’t miss a beat. I really hope they repair it because it’s such a good bike to do big miles on, but if they write it off I get to keep it for spares (if I want it) so I’ll probably just buy another one.

I did some FB window shopping last night and there are a few around in similar condition (without the damage) for about the same price, which is good because BMW turned that bike into a land barge with the R1200RT, so I don’t want the later model, I’d rather buy another Yamaha FJR1300 instead. ;D

You bastaard Eric, you done hurt muh feelings! Guilt is a terrible thing though, my dead iPhone came alive about 9.30 last night when the alarm went off to tell me to take my Melatonin capsule, and because the button at the bottom of the phone is disconnected, I couldn’t shut it off, so I carried it out to the patio and sat it on top of my BBQ just in case the lithium battery decided to get some payback and set itself on fire.

I’d only bought that phone in 2020 and we’d become good friends. I’d regularly talk to it, I took it everywhere, we went on many bike rides together and it took some great pics, hell, I even used it to talk to you guys, so as I carried it out in the dark, with the full moon reflecting off its shattered glass, a single tear dropped onto it’s face, as I realised we’d never be together again……  :-[

You got me a little misty in the eyes reading that Terry. One of my cheapie carry phones died a horrible death on the road also when it fell out of my pocket when I was winding my Bandit up close to the 90mph zone and my pocket was unzipped.  Whoops. I found it amazingly but she was dead from a traumatic incident. PM me brother if the loss get to hard to handle alone and you need a big shoulder to lean on a little. ;)

Thanks, that is a CTX1300, derived from the ST1300.  It was sold here for only a year.  Nice bike, though.
