Looks very sweet in a sinister kind of way. 

I'll be curious to hear how the clear holds up on the tank in California sun after 5 years.  On my well kept 900ss, the front fender and clutch cover looked extremely milky after 3-4 years of use...ultimately replaced.

Hey! That's exactly what I was thinking about doing with my battery. How do you like it like that? Any issues? How did you mount it? Beautiful bike, BTW.

brady- i like your bike too :) ...thought about doing mine silver at first but ended with the carb

cafeconieche- its a 550, there is no oil tank..


owned- we'll have to see about the carbon getting milky...i have had carbon mountainbikes that were cleared and had no problem after years of use...

syth- the battery box was made by bcr ( they made the tank and fork covers also). it bolts directly above the swingarm using existing motor mounts ( it does not sit on the actuall swingarm.) i have had absolutely zero problems with it in this location. i dont ride in the wet or rain though so i dont know if that would affect it or not..

moham- bars are renthal 2.5 rise street bars ...got them through dennis kirk.

so i finally got my spare rotor drilled..i sent it off to formula super on ebay and he drilled it out , hit the surface on a lathe to clean it up and painted the center...i wanted gold center to try to match the bars and im surprised that it actually came out pretty close..as far as the drilling pattern i wanted one that looked factory so i went with the spiral design as opposed to the 'how many holes can you drill in it' look...pretty stoked the way it came out...anyways heres a look at it...now i just need some time to take the wheel off and mount it...

Looks great. Have you done any other brake mods? MC, ss lines or those pads from vintagebrakes?

stainless line that is 3 inches shorter on the top hose  , just got some power levers i need to mount and it has EBC pads from PO.. whats pads from vintage brakes??

Ferodo Platinum High Performance. The guy that runs vintagebrake.com responded to a couple questions recently from forum guys in the middle of a quite long how-do-we-get-modern-performance-out-of-really-old-brakes thread. He talked about MC ratios and these Ferodo pads being key to high performance. His site (http://www.vintagebrake.com/index.html) has some good info as well. Bike looks nice.

so im thinking of different ideas for making a chaingaurd...just want it to cover the area where the passengers foot would be next to the chain..i have some perforated aluminum sheets at work i thought about using...has anyone out there made a cool chaingaurd outa metal? or modified a stock one with holes or slots? any ideas would be welcome...

ok, so i finally got around to making my chaingaurd..first i made a template outa cardboard, then drew it out on  some perforated aluminum...worked like a champ....the i sprayed it gloss black so it would go away...

i wanted to build another one...wanted to do a naked gold wing of the same era...kinda a bobber, cruiser take on it...in my head it would look really sick....white walls, cruiser bars, maybe black with red scallops or some vondutch style rat rod pinstripping.....

any ways that will have to wait as my wife wont let me sell it...she likes it to much! so my other project will just half to wait...but trust me..it would been a sick cruiser...

i here ya..but for me building the bike was the fun( of course riding it is equally as fun) seeing your vision become reality is the payoff ..and for sure how can you put a price on all the hours of research and elbow grease...so in that respect youll never get out of it what you put into it....im still going to try to find a way to build my cruiser though!!!!

how do you like the moto style bars on your bike i have a benjies carbon fiber kit on my yamaha xs i am short and can not do clubman bars and i like the look of moto bars.
