I'd have the same bike I have now- 1977 CB550F...only brand new from the factory. I might change my mind later though. I kinda have a thing for older Triumph Speed Triples...

A secondhand Honda Transalp 600 or 650. Not nice to see, but an allround bike that will take you anywhere in the world. Overhere the police patrols with them. Beautiful and very modest sound.

I am about finished restoring a 750 K2 - only rode it once before stripping it down and loved it for the memories. Over the years I've had road bikes including a new CB450, a new K2, two Z1 Kawasaki's, two Harley 883 Sporty's and a GSXR 750. I had one other bike that caused me untold heartache mechanically and financially but stopped traffic everywhere I went and was by far the greatest bike I have owned - by a mile. It was an early 70's Ducati 750 Sport - the yellow single seat twin with Conti pipes and the best note of anything on the road at the time. They're worth a fortune in Australia now ($40k AUS) and would love to still have it in my shed. Slug.

Only one bike?: Either a Triumph Speed Triple, Ducati 848 Streetfighter, or Ducati Hypermotard or possibly a Triumph Tiger OR...

A 1983 Harley FXR Custom.  Its a rubber mounted shovelhead bike.  I had one for many years and sold it in 2003.  If I ever find it, I will own it again.  It had a 96" stroked motor, hand formed gas tank and fenders and was low and lean.  I miss that bike.

I would love to have the 97cb 1100 xx blackbird back.
But If I would have kept it Im not so sure that I would be responding to this post.
But so far my favorite vintage bike has been my Z1.
I could have my wife on the back of the Z1 on a 11% grade in 5th gear and that bike never pinged or got hot.It just pulled along and seemed to say...(If your brave enough twist the throttle)

I own a few SOHC's namely a '75 & '76 CB400F and every time I ride either of these machines the hair on the back of my neck stands-up.  They're just so exhilarating to ride...!

But of all the bikes I've own or have owned over the years (100's of them...!) I'll keep my 2010 Indian Chief Vintage...why?  Because there are almost 400 part numbers on this machine with my name on them.  It's not so much the technological, performance or aesthetic attributes of this bike, instead it's the sacrifice - blood, sweat & tears that my family and I endured to enable my contribution to the history of America's Oldest Motorcycle and I'm confident IMC is in a better 'place' now that Polaris owns the brand...!

BUMP!

I found it... 2012 Triumph Tiger Explorer.  135hp shaft drive, eats potholes in NYC, and can bang out 1,000 mile runs 2-up.  Of course, I'm still not going to give up the 350-4.

Well, I have an '80 CBX that I feel is pretty cool and I also have an '83 Kawasaki GPZ1100 that is pretty cool as well And a good runner. A Vincent Black Shadow would be Awesome, but WAY out of reach. I know that I am going to catch flack for this, but I'd like to have a Mid Sixties Royal Enfield Interceptor OR a Norton Commando.

Thanks Brother, I didn't think so either. But, I've heard some pretty good criticism of the Enfield's. But, I have seen some, in the old days, that didn't really have that much problem with them. Different Strokes For Different Folks, Eh? Besides, there are times, that issues can be corrected. None are perfect, best I know. Just sayin'  ;)

If money is not an object for this discussion I might be going for a Vincent or perhaps even a Cleveland.  Either or would be pretty bad a$$ to have.

I sat on a CB1100 at the Honda tent during the Indy Moto GP. The way it felt I could've sworn it was 50 lbs lighter than my F2 but found out later it's actually 50 lbs heavier. If I wasn't needing a new truck soon I'd get one. Another bike I'd like to have is a V-Max
