If you coud only have one bike, what would it be?
« on: June 14, 2012, 12:58:39 AM »
I was riding my newly-overhauled CB750 K7 today and I found myself thinking... "this is more fun than my other (newer) bikes!". Something about the CB makes it great fun to ride - is it the weight down low? The rawness of the carbies? The naked front? Knowing I've brought it back to life? The need to tinker every now and then?

My other bikes both cost more and are both still quite new; an 08 DR650 and an 09 1250 Bandit; both have their place but if I could only have one, the CB might just be it.

What bikes do you have, and if you had to choose only one, what would it be?

Hmmm, I have 3 incomplete 750/4's, a K2, a F1 and a K9 {Mongrel bitza} actually, because i got most of my stuff in pieces they are all bitza's, anyway, if i could have any bike i would have to have 2, an NR750  Honda and a RC30 Honda....

My 69 CM91 scooter, goes 60, hauls 500 pounds, gets 100+ mpg, looks cute with saddlebags, can be ridden off road in low gear, best choice post apocalypse.

The King of Kings. Kawasaki Z1.  Shoot me.  ;D
'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings. Same with 'of' and 'have'. Set and sit. There, their and they're. Draw and drawer. Could care less/couldn't care less. Bought/brought FFS.

My CBR1000F, bought it 22 years ago and it never let me down once.
Fast enough to scare the rookies on their new bikes, grunty enough to bumble along at 2000revs in high gear, and in all those years I made it exactly to my own liking. ;D

Depends on my mood.

I guess as of right now I would love a Road King.
Honestly though if Yamaha would come out with a yz450x, I'd take one of those. The 250 just isnt enough.

Over the years I have ridden a lot of different bikes and have sold a few of my own......but I keep coming back to my K3 CB750 because it fits me, it gets me where I want to go, and has not failed me since it was new.

I built an XS650 to suit my taste and sold it to a friend. It rides OK and has good power for its size, but its not an all-day cruiser because of the 'buzz' at highway speeds. I have ridden a few of the modern bikes and just sold my XR650L.  I am looking for a BMW F650GS and I am negotiating the purchase of a Triumph 1200 Trophy......because it costs less than a Honda ST1300.

But the one bike to keep is my CB750. And now that CYCLE-X has built a motor to beat the dohc competition, the mighty CB750 has new bragging rights!

What bikes do you have, and if you had to choose only one, what would it be?

In the garage right now...

'72 cb 350, stock configuration

'72 cb 750, light cafe configuration

'04 FJR 1300, rally and LD setup

'06 KLR 650, 685 and heavily modified setup

Of these four, if a gun were held to my head and I had to pick only one, it would be the KLR, no question.

All the best,

Shane

I have to believe a BMW R1200GS would be "the" bike to do everything, but I'm having so much fun with the garage full of other bikes that I can't pull the trigger.
