Discontinued part for my bike. Is there an aftermarket?
« on: October 04, 2013, 07:38:15 AM »
Apparently they discontinued front brake light switches for my '78 CB750F.  The part is 35340-393-771.  Is there another version that would work?

Hmm that's a shame.

I actually prised mine apart and cleaned it all up when it decided not to work, not because it was unavailable but because I'm cheap! Have a go, there's nothing to them and you'll have lost nothing right?

An alternative might be an aftermarket pressure switch that you place between the master cyl and brake line, I believe it would use the same connections.

Well I had thought about replacing the pretty much everything on the handlebars (both left and right button housing included) to modernize it.  Not sure if that is a viable solution or not.

Find a deal parts person who knows how to use updated numbers
I'm pretty sure the switch is still in production and used on different bikes with a superceded part number
You can also get aftermarket from K&L, same switch was on CB650, CB/CM/400, etc

Or you can use banjo bolt/switch for the same purpose.

This switch is still available but unless you cross part the fitment can't guarantee it works.

Take it to a Honda auto parts dept and see if they can do a visual on it. The oil pressure switches and more interchange.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)
