The first couple of pics aren't too great because of the sun glare, but whatever.

the stripe does line up correctly, it is just the angle I took the pic at.

I freakin' live it!  You must be over the Moon.  Can you give some details on how you mounted the seat to the frame rails?  Did you weld flat bar to the rails and then screw into the flat bar?

Yah I am pretty happy right now.

I just realized I never took pics or really talked about how I mounted the seat.  I came up with a pretty simple and easy solution.  I utilized the mounting points for the battery and the tool trays.  On the tool tray side I made some spacers to equal the height of the battery tray.  The battery tray has those rubber pieces to damper vibes.  I got a piece of starboard from a local plastics place and cut it to fit the underside of the seat pan.  The front of the starboard is attached directly to the frame utilizing the front mounts for the tool and battery trays.  Since that would have placed the screws too far forward in the seatpan itself I drilled some more holes in the starboard so I could attach the front of the seatpan to the starboard.  I used some T-nuts on the bottom of the starboard so that the screws had something to grab a hold of.  The rear screws on the seatpan go through the starboard and attach to the rear mounts for the tool and battery trays.

Received my new headlight today.  I picked up a Bosch H4 from The Bus Depot.  It is marked for motorcycles and is DOT

I have a final tomorrow and need to study tonight so I won't be able install it until tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks man.  I can't tell you what an honor it was to be nominated.  It means a lot to me that others like what I cobbled together.

Harsh,

Congrats on completion. Lets go ride!

BTW, why didn't you get antique tags? No need for ugly VA inspection with antique tags. Also, I would've put DOD stickers on magnetic plate and put on bike only for getting on and off base. I did that for my bike.  I just hate to see stickers getting in the way of an absolutely gorgeous bike.

Well done!

A ride is definately in the cards if this crappy weather would ever go away.

I thought about the antique tags, but I wanted to get a custom plate and I couldn't if I went that route.  Maybe when I go to renew this one I will switch it out.  However, I am a bit worried about the restrictions that are placed on an antique vehicle being allowed to be ridden whenever I want.  Now that we do not have to have the DOD stickers anymore I have been trying to figure out an alternate location for the inspection sticker.  I have been thinking about making a bracket where the horn attaches and putting it there.

I have those Bosch H4's in both my CB's. Love em! I did have to throw in a lint free rag and wipe the glass off with a wooden dowel though...

Now that we do not have to have the DOD stickers anymore I have been trying to figure out an alternate location for the inspection sticker.  I have been thinking about making a bracket where the horn attaches and putting it there.

Put your VA Insp sticker under your seat pad. "IF" a cops tops you, pull your pad and show him. I suspect that given the detail of your bike, he will understand the reason/location for it. Also, you can use the same explanation I use, "they didn't do inspections in 1974, thus no location ease verde signed".

Further, I bet someone of your maturity isn't going to be pulled over too frequently unless a cop wants to admire and chat about he bike.

Beautiful work, pretty bike, and a huge amount of respect to you for the project.

That might work in Richmond, but down here in Hampton Roads I would get pulled over and ticketed just pulling out of my driveway.

When my registration ends in May I am going to apply for an antique tag.  I just wish I could customize it.  Until then I am going to make a bracket and place it next to the horn.
