4 into 1 Yosh Style exhaust for 75-77 CB400f Super Sport
« on: November 09, 2013, 02:59:44 PM »

If you would like a 4 into 1 Yosh style exhaust for your CB400f Super Sport please reply with a, "yes". This is a survey I'm taking to see how many people would like this and actually buy one so I can possibly have these made for a bulk buy or just so a"major cafe racer company" (leaving name out until its done), will make them. So if you would buy one or want one please post "YES."

I'm going to meet with the guy some might even call him the master on monday. Hopefully there will be more then enough posts to show him there is enough interest to build them.

thank you,

note to moderator please repost in correct forum if this isn't the right one ;-)

Carpy the master...?  :o  His 500/550 Yoshi pipes are hitting the Honda front guards under brakes and jamming the wheel straight , they haven't caused an accident yet but i imagine they could, Carpy makes nothing, he just sells stuff and tells anyone that will listen that he makes it.....there's a thread here and one on Do The Ton site about his 500/550 pipes, if you are running a stock front guard then his 500/550 pipes are DANGEROUS..  Chris at MotoGP werks just bought out the pipe maker that Carpy used to use, Chris was an engineer at Yoshimura and makes race pipes, try asking him, they would be far better quality than Carpy's dodgey pipes and all Chris's pipes are stainless.......

yep, and those tiny little sensitive carbs are extremely hard to tune if you change any exhaust parts

What is that supposed to mean..?  Carpy has admitted to 2 customers the fault I mentioned, he also told one that he would remove the offending pipes from his site but they are still there, Those pipes are dangerous, simple as that. He also lied on a couple of occasions about those pipes.  Chris used to supply Carpy with his pipes, ask him.. Carpy is also a member here and has been for a long time, he barely show up round here any more. We all know who Carpy is and I still have no idea what your reply was supposed to mean, it sounds like you obviously don't know Carpy..... :o

Read both threads, these dodgey pipes have been made for over a year and he's still selling them...

The latest guy to bring the extremely dangerous situation with the 500/550 pipe to his attention got the reply from him that he was surprised and blamed it on a change in his design from manufacturer. well I happen to know of at least one other incidence of this issue from last year, so it isn't a new issue. Look on his site and you will not see a bike with those pipes on it that has a front fender on it, I wonder why that is? To me he is just a shiester, Someone who rips people off or does things that only benefit themselves.
Here's another thing that irks me. From his website he claims:
"I designed this seat base about 11 years ago now and have used this on my designs and sold to all around the globe, this is a really good and sturdy seat base that I took many months in getting the look bang on."

Here's his:

And here is the seat I have had on my bike for 35 years, 24 years before he says he designed his. You tell me the difference?

Yes, it is. But what do you do when the pipe needs replacing from deterioration or you get a bike that the stock pipe is gone? A good, fairly priced pipe would be desirable. Carpy's prices are fair, but I don't know if there are enough 400's that need pipes to justify making a full run of them. In my case I have the header, just don't have the muffler section. I'll make my own SuperTrapp meg for around $60, making it easier to tune than a Yoshi type pipe.

No comparison Jimmy, not e3ven close. Carpy's pipes stick out too far at the header and the front guard jams in under brakes, your situation with Chris was entirely different and not safety related at all.... Chris bought the pipemakers out and now has all pipes made in house....

Motad makes a decent pipe at a fair price.

I personally am not into chrome and prefer ceramic coating which I can do myself for around $30. That's one thing I liked about Carpy's pipe. You can get it in raw steel for $220. His ceramic coated one is the same price as the Motad one in chrome ($400)

No, I never suffered safety related issues and the third generation MotoGP pipes are undoubtedly better that the first, but if you talk to these two Bozos on the phone, you'd think they where twins separated at birth.  ;D

I'm meeting with Carpy today. I can't believe all the #$%*ing and whining over a $300 exhaust seems like Lossa's 550 exhaust which costs more has the same fitment issues as Carpy's. If you're having an issue with the fender hitting the header i'd cut the part of the fender off thats hitting. You guys have to realize it's aftermarket and headers are normally a P.I.A. to install OEM or aftermarket. Plus the more you pay the better quality it's going to be, (normally). So remember to keep that in mind. I'll post my results when i get back should have an idea if they'll be stainless or raw steel.

If he makes a product that he claims fits a CB500/550 and has dangerous clearance issues with the stock application and doesn't put a disclaimer on his product to me that is plain negligence and he's liable for any injury that happens due to it. Stick up for him all you want. That will make 2 people on his side, you and him.

Everyone

I think the key point being asked is if there is interest or a need for new a performance pipe for the CB400F?  In my opinion there is a need for a performance pipe made in North America.

Stock pipes are great within a certain range of performance and I have multiple sets stashed away for my mostly stock bike.

If a person is building a 400 motor to go 45HP plus, a Yoshi or true performance pipe is required.  The only current source of this type of pipe is out of Japan and with freight approach $1,000.

I think if one was available, it might not have the demand of a 750, but there is a market need.  As word of a quality performance pipe becoming available, the market would expand.

I agree the pipe needs to be quality built, etc..  IMHO us 400F guys do need a new source.

If anyone has a good Yoshi 400f pipe for sale, please send me a PM :)

Listen up  listen clear! Carpy has been building cafes longer then most of the people in the states. He's the real deal and he knows his #$%*. If you've ever seen his bikes you'll understand. I went to his shop today and met with him saw a lot of beautiful work he's done and several amazing bikes too. He told me all about the mess up it was fitted to a bike with out a fender for the original mockup and he sent out stainless versions that were corrected to the people that complained. You've got to understand when buying aftermarket parts that's just something that can happen. You shouldn't diss or hate someone for one mistake that was made.  Unless it's made by a machine it's not going to be 100% perfect. It was a simple mistake and it's no longer an issue because it's been corrected. Plus this was on the 550 pipes not the CB400f! It will not happen again lesson learned.  I'm giving him a completely stock 75 CB400f to build on. That way there will be no safety issues. You've got to expect there might be minor fitment issues you might have to use a broom handle to mount the header but #$%* you have to do that with the stock header sometimes. Boxes get hit and tossed around in shipping it doesn't take much to mess up a motorcycle header. Seriously dude WTF is your problem? I'd love for you to not post here anymore if you're gonna have such a lame attitude.

Minor fitment issues, simple mistake and header pipes bent up in the post, hahahahahahah.... ;D  You really are a noob.....  The real funny thing is you have posted this in the High Performance section with piles of well seasoned motorcycle experts and builders...This is so funny its stupid {or visa versa}..... ;D ;D :o
Oh and by the way, Carpy DOES NOT BUILD PIPES.... ::)   The only problem with Powderman is that he's forgotten more that you obviously know about motorcycles....  ::)
