Where Is Everyone?
« on: February 10, 2014, 04:22:58 PM »

Okay, I know that I pretty much dropped out for a while, but now, I am Back and I am looking around and not seeing a lot of familiar names. I hope it is just that they are still coming on here and I am just missing them. Sure hope that, for one reason or another, a lot of my Old Friends haven't left here. I know a few have left, for one reason or another. If you all don't mind and you have been a member for several years (or if you just want to post up, Go for it, you are more than welcome to do so. After all, This is just one Huge Family!) how about popping in and making your presence known. I have a lot of Great Friends here, that I made, since I joined up back in December of '05.

Actually Mike, I am watching the black bomber chain auction-way more exciting than some stupid, old prototype sandcast 750.   Sorry for the hijack Bill.  Good to see you posting....Larry

Ha! Ha! Ha! Now, I know what the deal is, about the 450 Chain. Wow, I am DEPRESSED that anyone could be SO Dumb to post something like that, anywhere. I could not resist posting on that one. Thanks for posting the link to that one, I am still VERY surprised that anyone could be so stupid as to do that.  Unreal!

Good to see you as well, Buddy.  Good to be back AND to have the feeling that I am going to be able to be around here more, so I can see what is going on with you all. Never have gotten much done, in the way of bikes. Kinda slimmed things down somewhat. but, alot depends on how my Dad is doing. He IS in Hospice care now and time will tell, if he stays or if he can get back up, at least, somewhat to speed again.  Lord only knows how that will go. Other than the ups and downs with my Dad, we are doing pretty good, Thank you for asking. Hope All is well with you all too.  ;)

Hey Bill. Like you, I took a while out and when I came back I didn't recognise too many faces. With so many different names, people with a billion posts in a couple of years it's easy to think the whole forum has been hijacked and changed. But when you persevere you find it's still the same great community (maybe better - there were a few grumpy ones before right?) and occasionally a blast from the past still crops up. There are some truly knowledgeable and helpful guys on here, and the Aussie contingent inject a sense of humour that just creases me up.
I've been following your Dad's progress, in a not too dissimilar situation myself so can empathise with you. Best wishes mate.

It's great to know that this place is still here, as I (and I am sure you) have seen several forums fold and left me wishing I had gotten email addresses, phone numbers or some way to keep in touch with folks. You are right, about This place. There has always been folks here, who are ready to chime in, when help is needed, in whatever way they can. Even if only to symphathize. And That's cool, just some good old Moral Support does help.  Yeah, I have seen some pretty Grumpy ones and some who've had a chip on their shoulder and have to be toned down a bit by a Moderator. No need for that, after all, we ARE supposed to be "Grownups". LOL! I remember when that word had a WHOLE different meaning to me. LOL! I agree, the Aussie bunch do put some funny times in here alright.  ;D  We've got a pretty cool blend of folks from all over.

Thank you, Brother, We just try to keep on making the effort to take care of my Dad and give him a few laughs, as we can and he actually can still crack me up at time, with his wit. Don't remember if I already told this, but one day I had him to the doctor for an appointment to do a followup. Well, the doctor came in the room and as he passed my Dad, he asked, "How are you feeling, Mr. Van Pelt"? And my Dad quickly replied, "With My Hands".  ::)  That stopped the doctor in his tracks! He turned around and told me Dad that that was a Good One and he sure caught him off guard with his reply. We all laughed. Now THAT'S how you can tell how he is doing. If he gives you a comeback like that, then,. he's feeling pretty good!  Sorry to hear about your experience, I fewlt for folks who had to go through issues like that, before I was doing it and NOW, I REALLY am getting more of an idea what others have been confronted with. But, Glad to know that kids are taking care of their parents, like the parents took care of them. It's only right, ya know?

Good to hear from You too and to see some of you folks who I am more familiar with, Not to say that I can't make more NEW friends. After all, I didn't know anyone here, when I first arrived back in Dec of '05. I mean , THIS is like my Family, you know? BTW, Buddy, you are coming right along, learning the language. My main ancestry is Dutch and I do not know ANY of that language.

Hey John, good to see you as well. Maybe we can manage to get down to Alabama for Barber's this year, if nothing else. Be nice to see you, Gordon (Ilbikes) and whoever else can make it. Of course, nothing is guaranteed, just have to see how it goes. I just thought that IF it is planned out Far Enough in advance, it just might work.
