836cc big-bore kit questions?
« on: July 20, 2014, 03:47:50 AM »
Hi everyone
I found this 836cc kit on Ebay and the price is pretty reasonable. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/69-77-HONDA-CB750K-K1-K2-K3-K4-K5-K6-836cc-BIGBORE-PISTON-KIT-W-HEAD-GASKET-/261401717357?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item3cdcc1aa6d

Does anyone here have any experience with this no-name brand, or with this seller? ( cruzinimage_uk  )
Or can you suggest a better deal/quality somewhere else?

Also, am I correct in thinking that to fit these 65mm pistons one only needs to bore the existing sleeves (no resleeving necessary)?

regards

My phone doesnt let me see the ad well,so here's my advice.
Im sure they are cast pistons, which means no hard riding as in racing.if the kit has multi piece oil rings, you're good to go.if your bike is a street cruuser and for the money, you should be good to go.good luck

836cc big-bore kit questions?

The cruzinimage stuff seems to get great feedback, so much so I bought on of their 466 kits for my CB400F. They are made in Japan and damn high quality as far as I could see.

I highly recommend them although do not have any hours on my motor yet, although others have run them for ages without issue.

Here's the kit I bought:

The pistons were very consistent in their sizing when I had the sleeves bored. Not sure on the 750 sleeves but on the 400 the 466 kit is about as large as you can go on the stock sleeves.

I bought one of the 836 kits on Feebay from cruzinimage last winter and installed it, it appeared to be of good quality, I have no complaints with it. I would buy another, the next time I need one.

There is at least one iin depth thread on this subject. HondaMan (I think) commented on some flashing from casting that needed to be filed down. Just inspect closely before using.

OVerall acceptable and installed by many here.

And no it does not require resleeving. Just bore the stock sleeves.

The only thing I'll add is the intake valve reliefs are not large enough of 33.5 oversize intake valves. I would check very carefully if using a mild aftermarket cam as well.

Wrong thread. The OP has a 750. That thread is for the 550.  There is such a thread for 750s as well, though.

Time for several bikes so all nice stuff kan be purchased, installed and used! :-)
Cruzinimage pistons for moderate tuning with less CR, not that hot cam, lightly ported head with OEM valves, OEM carbs and OEM 4-4 in an OEM looking bike. Maybe not a bike that should be described and discussed here in the race forum :)

I'd say an 836 with a cam and ported head is hi-performance. Come and ride mine.

I believe those pistons are simply ovwersize stocker. So you would not be able to run adaquate cams. You could machine the pockest, but being cast pistons, you don't want to make it too thin under the valve pocket.
