That sounds too high to me for aluminum but I don't know what is recommended.

Two articles I found says they are torqued to 30 ft/lbs.

Thanks but I cannot get Carrillo bolts to 30lbs and they are steel. I'm thinking 22 or so....somebody must have the original sheet.

Just dug out my old RC catalogs Mike but no torque specs in it...Sorry... ;)

I have that article Bill.....it also shows the application of Loctite (or similiar product) on the rod bolt threads. I have seen never that done either. Max torque on a Carrillo 5/16 WMC bolt is 30lbs. The multiphase bolt is 40 lbs. I have found an ARP2000 bolt the can replace the original RC bolt but max torque on that is about 28lbs. All those values are with bolt lube.
 I guess I can measure stretch which I am guessing is in the .004 to .006 range. I want to check the big end bores and make sure they are concentric before going through the shenanigans of drilling the lower bearing.

I had a set in here that had SPS bolts. If that is what you have, it will be around 30 lbs. But to be safe, I would go with .005' / .006" stretch.

Hi guys.Back home.I have checked my instruction sheet.RC advises to drill the bearing with a #10 drill,oil or asembly lube on bolts,chamfered side of rod bolt washers to face bolt head,torque to 28ft/lb.Bolts are listed as grade 8 aircraft.Last line is warning to fully warm engine before use,especially in the case of alloy rods.Hope this helps.

Now we see that the REAL specs are a lot more involved than the magazine scribe relayed to the public...............Thanks City Boy :) Maybe this bit of info should be 'archived' some place.
