I spent way too much time trying to find an adapter for an oil pressure gauge.  The one that came on the engine was aluminum and chewed up.  I could have bought a factory plug, drilled and tapped it, but they're aluminum too.

The first adapter I bought I some how ordered the wrong size.  I was able to return it.  The second one I ordered was out of stock.  Finally got the third one right.  Got it off eBay and its steel.

Where did you find the plug? I would prefer steel or SS as well. I didn't see any on ebay jus to now.
All you gotta do is do what you gotta do.

Will the gauge screw right into this or will you have an 90 degree elbow so you can read it while riding?

Yeah, I'm going to install a 90.  I found these nice looking nickel plated 90's on Ebay.  They don't look like something you find at the hardware store.

Worked on the seat most of the day.  It came out pretty good, but I'm not 100% happy with it.  It needs a little more steaming and stretching.  Also, the leather I used was too thick.  The top piece is ok but it was really hard to get it to bend around the edges.  I'll probably end up redoing the side pieces at some point.

Last prime on the gas tank.  Just needs to be wet sanded and painted.

I also painted the head.  The valve cover is a spare.  It was a lot easier to mask the outside of the valve cover than trying to mask around the valve springs.

Thanks.  I'm waiting on a new primary chain tensioner.  It's being held up by some chrome that's part of the same order...then I can put the cases back together and I can paint them.  Gonna go with graphite gray metallic on the cases.  It would be awesome if I could paint them next weekend, but it looks like it'll be the following weekend.  Getting the engine mounted in the frame doesn't seem so far away.

How about some updates on your thread?

Found it on Craigslist.  Had to drive to north Houston, but it was worth the trip.

The primary tensioner arrived.  I can finally put the cases back together.

The tank is sanded and ready for paint.

Hopefully I'll be flinging paint onto the cases and the tank this weekend.

CycleX.  I tried to do their chrome exchange deal, but they were out of parts.  They actually send them out and have them done by another shop.  I'm pretty sure I got back the parts I sent them.  It's not show chrome, but it's not bad.  Plenty good enough for a daily rider.
