Hi Everyone
« on: December 30, 2014, 03:31:53 PM »
Hello all.  Just wanted to introduce myself.  My bike (1975 CB400F) was handed on to me when my dad passed.  I learned how to ride on the street with this bike back in the late 70's.  It has a Yoshimura 458cc kit installed as well as a YRS hot street cam.  The last time it was registered was 1988.  It's been covered up in a corner of the garage.  Now I plan to bring it back to life.  I've been trolling these forums gathering information and admiring the efforts of other 400F owners.  I'm looking forward to cruising the So. Cal canyons once again like my dad & I used to do.

Thanks in advance for sharing all of your knowledge,

Terry

Very nice vintage canyon bike.  Sorry for your loss, sounds as though you had some good times with your Dad. Welcome...Larry

Thanks.  I'm finally making the time to prepare the bike for the road.  I did a crude carb cleaning to get the bike to start.  The oil & filter have been changed.  Rebuilt the master cylinder & installed new brake pads.  I'm going to try to give the carbs a through cleaning & see what needs to be replaced.  Then tires & anything else that rears its ugly head.

I've never seen a 400 four that sat with gas that did not need a thorough carb cleaning(especially emulsion tubes).  It is a fun bike...Larry

WOW Momo.  I see you have a 1966 Suzuki.  My first street riding experience was aboard a 1966 Suzuki X6 Hustler.  250cc 2 stroke pocket rocket of its day.  This is a great forum.

Yes,  it is a low mileage(bit over 3000) survivor.  I ride it maybe 4 to 6 times a year to a local motorcycle gathering in Ephrata, PA.  Gets a lot of attention to say the least.  Here you go

That's a really nice bike.

Thanks, it took me quite some time to get it reliable but it is a blast to ride, not quite as much fun as my Katana though ::)

An Update!  Cleaned the carbs ( thanks to the knowledge gained from these forums). Replaced all O rings.  Starts great Idles very well.
Next step: Tires.  Suggestions are appreciated.

Nope.  I'm from the good ol' U.S. of A.  You must have me mixed up with the other Terry with a Guzzi.  Tubes & tires should arrive next week.  Fixed the turn signals today with a Toyota relay I had in my old relay drawer. Now I need to get a new horn.
