So ive bought these reproduction coils - http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/CB400F-SUPER-SPORT-FOUR/part_83524/.
Now im not very sharp at electrics - so please bare with me. How do i mount these in the right manner?
Obviously i have to make one of the wires fit the either blue or yellow wire comming from the electronic ignition system on my cb400f. Hence it's the wrong connector.
But how do i know what goes to the + or - side on my coil ?

Best Regards
The newbie who loves to learn.

Well, that is a nice picture of ignition for V8 car engine :)

SOHC4 is simplier, download a manual and read up.

Manual should be here:

But the principal is the same for inline fours.

Check this out:

I got the clymer "350-550 SOHC fours" of the library. and i own the equvialent haynes manual. The problem is, that the wiring charts assume you have the oem replacement coil. The original coil has wires that match the wires comming from the ignition system and the starter switch in the correct colours. The charts dont have to point out - and + sides on the coil, because if you had new oem coils you could just match the wires.

But thank you for the link, i will look for manual that takes this question into account.
Pardon the english (2nd language).

Best Regards.

It doesn't matter what side the wires go to.

You have to bring power to the coil - as Jimmy said, it does not matter which contact - and many Hondas deliver power to coils by black wire with white stripe.  The BW wire should be spliced to plug into both coils.

Than there are two more wires - yellow and blue - each comes from one set of points.  Blue goes to the coil for cylinders 1 and 4 and yellow to the coil for 3 and 4 cylinder.  Points ground the coil through these wires , collapse the field and send high voltage spike to the spark plug.

This system is called wasted spark, because every time there is a spark it goes off in 1 and 4 or 2 and 3 cylinder.

Hope it helps, ask away if it's still not clear.

Strynboen, skriv endelig på Dansk til mig hvis det engelske halter en smule. Jeg fik aldrig fat i den danske gruppe for honda four ejere? Mvh Anders.

DSS is known to have great service. A simple call to their place should certainly clear up any confusion.
