Cheap ebay rectifier
« on: March 25, 2015, 11:41:34 PM »
G'day gents, I need a rectifier for my 750 k2. I've noticed these cheap rectifier regulators on eBay but not sure if it's worth the punt.

Any thoughts?

Hey, if you wanna go ahead and put a cheap Chinese PoS on your beloved old bike that you've lovingly spent hundreds/thousands of dollars on only to have it crap out some day in the middle of a ride, ruining your day/ride, and causing you a lot of headaches to either get the bike towed or go back home somehow and get your trailer and come back and drag it home to end up buying a good one so that never happens again, go ahead and save twenty bucks and get it. 'Course the cost of the tow and the hassle of all of the problems and ruining your day are gonna cost more than that, but hey, you saved some money, right?  ;D :P

Just having a little fun at your expense, but you get the point. In my opinion saving a couple bucks on a critical item is false economy. Whatever it is, get a GOOD one...it'll pay for itself by working right and by staying that way.

Agreed. I would use a known brand 3 phase bridge with a safe rating (like the IR (Vishay) VS-26MT160 which has a low Vf) for around $20.00 and install that. It won't look as pretty for sure but it will work for a long long time without issues. On a small heatsink from scrap aluminum it will stay nice and cool.

I use the original on my K0 and it works and keeps working, as long as you know how to adjust it, you will not have problems with it.

Adjust a rectifier? Do tell.

Haha I agree with not buying cheap Chinese crap. I'm pretty sure some of the rectifiers I've seen on Australian ebay for around $150 are just Chinese models also. I've been buying a bit of stuff from yamiya  due to shipping to Australia being cheap and quick.  This is the model they sell

Yeah the bike I just got came with no electrical, just a new harness so I need both anyway, and a start solenoid so I'll probably just order the lot from yamiya

Yeah I looked at rick's stuff but the exchange rate and shipping is a killer, I'm ordering yoshimura replica exhaust tonight of yamiya so I may as well bite the bullet and get the rectifier with it (and a few other goodies)
