Yes, it will work.  Its good at speeds up to ~125MPH.  Sport bike riders use the Sigma brand when they want to clear the gauges.  You mount a small sensor down on your lower fork, and a magnet to you rotor, be it on a bolt head or a clear spot close enough to the sensor.  You follow the manual and adjust the gauge for your wheel size.  As for a back light, that specific one does have one, it works like one does on your watch, you push the upper rt and lower rt buttons.  I have seen some people who have mounted them below a riser/bracket where they have mounted a small white LED to illuminate it.

I would love to get rid of that hideous idiot light/handle bar clamp on the 500, so I'm pretty hot to go w/ the ones from Mikes. But price for both + shipping is a bit steep only to find out they don't hook up right, or the speedo is waaaaay off, or something else traumatic.

Slight over reaction mate  , ever been on the motogadget site.? They have some amazing stuff and very well made...... NOT cheap crap at all.
