A SOHC adventure
« on: May 11, 2015, 08:34:02 am »
Can't hold it in anymore!  ;D

First and foremost I have to thank Bill again for asking me to join him. After everything he did for me last month, I felt this was the least I could do!

So for yall that havent heard it starts on Thursday.
We meet at the Vegas airport in the afternoon. We'll rent a car and make our way down to Arizona to meet up with Gary Pena. The motor we are picking up is so "one-of-a-kind" ill wait and let Bill share as he dives in   :-X Gary is a legend in the racing community and I look very forward to meeting him.

From there we will rent a 26ft Penske box truck and make our way to California. Were making our first CA stop near SD and visit with Russ and Neil, and of course check out the legendary top fuelers  ;D

After that we make our way a little south to meet up with Ricky Racer and pick up a huge collection of Cb750s, one even a old dragster. 14 750's in total from this stop if I'm not mistaken!

Now loaded up, we hit I-40 cross country through St.Louis and Into Roxana Illinois. We are meeting up with a father and son who raced a multitude of HIPO cb750s spanning from 1978 until 2008! Three bikes remain, and Bill has made a deal for all of it. Talking with these guys for any legnth of time would be great. I can only imagine the stories and information they can share.

From Illinois we make the final drive back to Bill's in Atlanta to deliver everything before I fly back home.

Going to be a truly unforgettable week.. I plan to learn as much as I can and enjoy spending time with people who appreciate the 750 like I do!

Here's a pic from the 2013 trip with Gary Pena.
If you rent a car, be careful where you park it, ask Billy why, hahaha.
Have fun and be safe.

That sounds like a fun road trip.  I heard that Ted (Ricky Racer) had a big collection of bikes.  14 bikes is a nice acquisition.

Too bad that the seat time is in a box truck and not on some bikes with the "support" truck chasing you!

Billy and Trey should have a great time.  Time won't allow, or I'd offer to go myself.  Don't get any ideas with that 12.5:1 890 motor Billy ;)  That one is spoken for...   I hear Bill is opening a vintage cb750 theme park next year.  The park rides should be awesome!   Where do we go to buy season tickets?   ;D

Why not go to Ted's place in San Diego first, rather than drive the 400 miles each way from Kingman? I realize it's probably too late to change plans....
