Wow, that clutch was something else:)

Nice progress, sir ;D

Progress is one step forward then two back. Hopefully the switch gets here soon and I can button this up and get it off the lift, or buy another lift

Goos work Larry, I've had a leaking neutral switch on my CB750 for years, but I figure it keeps the concrete lubricated, so I leave it, I'd hate for my concrete to seize................ ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Looking at a Handy, available new down in Newark, De for a shade over 700.  Would be waaay sturdier than my rickety HF model

Larry,
That Handy is made in USA in Iowa and Real rugged.I had mine on an un-even concrete floor for a few years w/  no issues, even when a 1000 lb. Goldwing was almost tipping over as the lift lowered and I forgot that I had it tied to a rafter on one handlebar for some work on the front end..  :o (I saved it w/o getting crushed in the process but it was close)
I saved the bike and it wasn't touched and didn't fall but the lift had a slight bend in the frame from that time on.  ::)
I ended up selling that one to the local 'high times' Harley repairman,no sweat.
They make accessories for it so you can work on ATV's and extenders so you can put the long cruiser style & Valkyries up there too w/ a good quality front wheel vise that works w/ sportbike front rotors;you should squirt a little light oil into the air cylinder(which will work even w/ a low cfm/small volume tank compressor)once a month to keep the seal-ring pliable and maintained.

Hydraulic oil is probably more seal friendly if you are dealing with lubing a hydraulic cylinder.  If it is air operated it is probably lube friendly seals but if not, then you may be causing damage to a seal that does not tolerate oil. Granted, it takes time for those kind of problems to show up.
David
PS curious what makes the HF rickety? Is it sloppy joints or what?

rickety compared to the higher quality ones I used in the dealerships, but I only paid less than 300 when purchased 5 or so years ago.   It is OK but I'd like to get a better one if I buy another

The one I've got looks like the HF lifts, it is rickety. If they used larger diameter rectangular tubing there's be less "side to side" movement, but to be fair, I never had an issue with mine until I left the "prop bar" out for a week or two with a CB750 on it at full height. I walked into my garage to find the lift fully collapsed, with a pool of hydraulic fluid underneath. Oops........... ;D

Daviv,
The info that I mentioned to Larry about lubing the air cylinder w/ "a few squirts of oil" came straight from the manufacturer in IA. and I used ATF myself. They told me any oil on the seal ring is better than leaving it dry.

whoops is right,  I had the lift lower on its own once but all in all I am very satisfied except for the side to side play and I'd like it to be a bit wider.  I am thinking of bolting an extension to one side..G'day

Terry, rather than diameter you should use cross-section , I know more words and I'm being picky...just trying to wrap my head around circular diameter and square tubing.  ;)
You use a bigger hammer to pound it home?

Momo, I have plans for making a lift out of wood and using a large floor jack to raise and lower it...

Just got in from work and found the new neutral switch in the mailbox. Off tomorrow, hoping to button this up and have it out by the end of the day.  That is, unless........................................?

this  is the end beautiful friend, this is the end ,my only friend, the end .

This bike put up a fight to the bitter end.  Put the neutral switch in, filled with oil(refuse to divulge what type so this doesn't   turn into an oil thread) ::), and took for a test ride.  Yes, the clutch cleaning repair worked fine but the rear brake light decided to quit. New bulb and on the  truck headed back to the owner.

Payday!  First virtual round is on MoMo!
Congrats on finishing up the beast. I guess he didn't want stripes on the tank, or he's having them put on later.

Hope the blendzall works its wonders.
