So whats your take on the new set up Bill, will the alloy rollers be the best solution or is it back to a slipper arrangement....?    ;)

Mick, personally I put in a older Yoshimura one with pretty much same setup in the 915 Cobra Girl last time with a big NOS OEM bottom roller. My two big metal ones had a little spot in each one I didn't like and these weren't available then.  I like what I'm seeing, know kmb69 and Mike Rieck all like what they're seeing so far, turbo engine will go back with one. Three going in the RC Triple, K, Bill

Mick, will do. Only fair to state the CycleX small end I liked the length of the chain contact. It was the length of the piece. So if I thought the small end would hold up I like the way it kept the chain in contact better. I would use it or something similar and a metal big roller with the needle bearing on the bottom. But until I know more going with rollers on both ends like Pop's Yoshimura did, Bill  ;D

Bill I agree with you !
On mellow yellow with the cycle x tensioners the small top long guide absolutely had no wear or stress marks, the big roller on the bottom end of the chain tensioner showed substantial dimpling as per your pics.  My take on it is the flat blade upper is working better than a small roller but the large bottom roller will only be as good as the teflon lasts,  in terms of heat and stress efffects.
I was planning to use the bottom metal roller next time and continue to run the teflon flat blade top.

Guys, how is the noise at idle with these upgrades?  The F engine is quite loud no matter how I adjust the tensioner, I guess the K0 was well worn out and quiet before of that.

I am ready to invest in aftermarket if it quites down the cam chain, I mean she runs tops and revs high but in idle sounds like shaking coffee can full of bolts.

70...........with tranny in neutral...........check sound with clutch pulled............the sound difference could be stretched primary chains and / or a worn primary tensioner or clutch basket.

Holds up very good, no prob what so ever. Even the CR 750 that won Daytoa a few years back still runs it. No failure.

I we think to the Over Site, did not find tensioner. Did find some cool swingarms, but about double the price of those other CalFab type being built.. I did not like their axle mounts much..

Is there any more info about these? Probably wouldn't be hard to produce depending on the material.

Are these tensioners really critical on these bikes? I just removed OEM tensioners from an engine which had 72.000km on it... and it hardened and was worn only a little. Mostly it was hardening from age..
I installed new oem's back into my turbo engine... also the standard camchain (as I have also the standard camshaft and springs).

Perhaps if you have tough valve springs and a big camshaft it would make sense, otherwise I'm a bit in doubt to be honest..

The way a turbo spools up I wouldn't hesitate using a heavy duty cam chain, I use them anyway, any improvement on the old technology is good, same with the tensioner, get some of those little pieces of the wheel in an oil gallery and kiss your hipo engine goodbye....

Hmmm well as long as its the standard springs and camshaft... I don't think it matters much. I figured basically it spools up as fast as you can rev it in neutral. :-)

The small pieces coming off your rollers and stuff won't get into you oil gallery as it will always end up at the filter mesh of the pump and then the really small pieces go through your oil filter.

I used to be worried about all this stuff too, but over the years I noticed most of the times you want to "fix" too much. :-)

Yes, It will spool up like that but with load, there's no load in neutral, big difference, with the small rubber parts, if they are small enough they will go straight through the pump and gather slowly in the galleries, it may never happen but for me, I would rather have the better, newer stuff and not have to worry  ;), I'm over taking risks with expensive engines....  Enjoy the turbo.... ;D
