Well, spent my morning perusing around the annual Tenino Motorcycle Swap meet. Even left my cb550 on display for the Asian category. It was up against 4 old Honda Tiddlers that a very nice man had meticulously restored, and a CB400 owned by another gentleman. The cb400 and I both lost to the little blue honda.
A ducati mark3 took the prize category for euro bikes. A triumph bonneville won the judges choice.
There was plenty to look at, and for folks interested in the REALLY old motorcycles, there was lots of useful stuff to spend your money on.
Me personally, I only came home with a pair of Moto Guzzi Eldorado footpegs - and those are gonna be gifts for a friend. Those may have been the only italian anythings for sale there.
I snapped a couple of pictures along the way. A clean 78 CB750 Super Sport was up for sale, when the vendor saw my honda jacket he immediately tried to sell me on it. But my wallet wasn't up to $3500 today. So he tried to sell me a real dirty project 74 cb750 for $1200 instead - if he knocked a zero off of it, I may have gone for it.
Anyway, a couple of ninteen-teen something mag motor harleys took home plaques from judges too. My personal favorite was "Salt Flat Annie", I got to hear her run and wow those little harley motors make a big sound. After hearing old harley and indian motors run, I can't help but notice how much smoother a newer inline motor sounds by comparison.
Tomorrow is the backroads group ride - 9.30 am briefing and a 10am departure. I'm looking forward to riding in a pack of vintage bikes!
