Carburetor Options for CB650

I have a 1981 (later model) CB650 engine and a beautiful set of rebuilt stock CV carburetors from James (harisuluv)

I also have a spare (early model) 1979 CB650 head (not rebuilt).

1. I've heard that the 79-80 heads will match up to certain 69-76 CB750K carburetors but I'm not sure about this.  Can someone confirm?  If so, do the 750 carburetors offer marked improvement over the 650 carburetors?

2. If the early model head will match up to 750K carburetors, it should also match up to CR29s racked for 750s.  Has anyone done this?

3. What are the options for better off-the-shelf carburetors for the late model (81-82) heads?
