Definition of Sandcast:

A piece of aluminum that was manufactured by Honda in the late 1960's that eBay sellers think it's value is comparable to gold!
Is it certain parts made from aluminum or the whole bike?

It's not just that there were only 7400 made..many got nodded or destroyed..
And this is the big thing, over 50parts changes from beginning of them thru to the end.
Meaning some Very.  Very. Hard parts to find, the earlier they are..
So unmolested complete ones are high value.

Nice to have (likely) original parts..you gonna find a rim and rebuild it with new spokes?  I forget..are you nut/bolt restoring this one?

I forgot if early diecast come with rolled rim or not, but I have a did rim with no sizing stamped on it, is it correct for this bike?

Ultimately will make reliable rider out of this one, I don't believe a 46 yr old bike to look shiny like a show bike.   Restored bikes look very nice and all, but look fake to me at the same time.  Time goes by, people age, things get worn out or worn down, can't keep them new.

Some did.  Some didn't.  Sounds like the rim you picked up is K0 correct.  Searching for a usable REAL rolled rim was the most frustrating part of restoring that sandcast I did.  And, I sorta agree about restored bikes...I didn't even want to ride the thing when it was done.

Nice find, GA!
I have one (in a lot more pieces, and missing many more pieces than yours) as 1008XXX, too! It's a long-haul resto, but I at least have a frame, engine, forks, and a couple other gizmos.
See SOHC4shop.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.
