F2 engine vs 78 a vs k7
« on: September 18, 2015, 11:00:56 AM »
Hi,
I was about to trade my 78 f2 engine for some f1 parts, when I came across and purchased an 78a. Should I keep the f2 engine for spares? The head is different, what about the rest? I also have a spare k7 engine that I could use for spares?

Any advice, except keep it al, because it's growing out of control so I need at least some justification for myself.

If you have an option to trade the F2 engine for parts  I say go for it.  The F2 engine is such a different animal that it is not worth the effort.

Says me who rebuilt F2 head from scratch  ;D ;D

I guess it depends on what you want.  If you want a bike to ride and last, old Ks are your best bet.  If you plan to race, I understand the F2 has some value for that purpose.

Ah ok, no I'm a k person and have more than a few.

But what I really mean is since the 750a is from 78 and so is the f2, should I keep the engine for spares for the 750a. Eg crank, cylinders?

Or should I keep the k7 engine for that purpose?

Would be angry with myself to part from it now and needing it later. But if the 78a and f2 engines are not much alike I will make someone else happy with it, a racer indeed.

I see.

You could always check on CMSNL how much parts match between F2 78a?

Let me start with that indeed. Does anyone have a 750a parts manual in digital form?

The F2 has different oil-journals then the K and A motors. The A-crank has a hyvo-primary chain. The F2 head would require a piston change to match the taller chambers. The F2 mods could be done to the auto.............but it would be much easier to swap K-parts.

The F2 has 31mm intake ports that are matched with larger carbs. If your F2 motor is in nice condition, it should attract interest from any power-builder.

Hello,

I am a new member from Brantford, Ontario, Canada.
I have the zipped CB-750A Parts Manual, it has all the Honda part numbers. I hope this helps. The file will not send through the forum, how can I email it to you. Please let me know.  :-)

Sincerely:  Connie.   ( Purpleparasolsweetie )   :-)
