Trouble fitting throttle cables

I am having trouble fitting my push/pull cables into my PD46C throttle. This is a picture of the pull, it seems logically the end would fit into the groove but doesn't. I don't know where the push is supposed to attach either.

It looks like your trying to push it straight in from above. take the cable body off the carbs, turn the cable facing away from the quadrant and feed the lug in from the side, then rotate down and attach the cable body to the carbs

yep, goes in from the side.
twist your throttle cable or rotate your bars to give you a little extra slack. once the end (you have pictured there) is in place, fit the cable sleeve end into its holder and secure the lock nuts.
