Which Rec/Reg???
« on: October 14, 2015, 06:04:56 PM »
I'm new to the CB world so I'm not sure what brand of Rec/Reg to go with. I'm replacing the original from my 77 550 because it isn't looking too healthy but mostly to save space under my seat. Oh and also what brand of ignition coils to go with an electronic ignition? Thanks

Rick's is the one most often used.
You can use your current coils with the electronic ignitions although many also install Dyna coils.

Personally, I'm running stock coils with a Pamco ignition on my K8 and it's been working really well.

If you do swap to aftermarket coils, then be certain to purchase 5.0 Ohm units, not 3.0. Theres a member selling a brand new in the box Dyna S ignition, wires and coils in the Parts For Sale section. Happens to be from the exact bike you're riding.

He also happens to be a fantastic seller and get things shipped out quickly....

Cycleranger, thank you for that link. Very good info there. I wasn't looking to change from stock on my 77 but the 75 I'm building needs the least amount of space/wiring possible so very happy to see the different ideas.
