New member in West Texas
« on: November 24, 2015, 09:02:25 AM »
Hello everyone!

I am a new guy out in West Texas.  I have gotten into working on  a couple of 70's Honda twins in the last few years (1975 CB360 and 1972 CL350: Hondatwins.net project links in signature below), but I picked up a 1975 CB550K over the weekend (picture attached).  I am missing a few parts, so I will likely be scouring this forum and researching for a while.

I have a 1972 CL350 project that should be wrapping up in the next few months (picture of finished engine and painted parts below), then it will be full time on the CB550.  I have been waiting and watching for a SOHC 4 Honda project for a while now.  I had a deal in the works for a 750 that fell through over the weekend, but I managed to pick up the 550 instead.  I think the 550 may be a better fit for me now anyway.  The 750 will have to be further down the road.

I'm glad to be here and I'm looking forward to being involved with you guys!

Cody

We like more Texas members.  There are a few of us running around with 550s.  Maybe you can come see us next year at the Harvest Classic.

Got my CL350 project pretty much finished up.  Here is how it turned out:

Now I am starting in (slowly) on the 550 project.  I will start a project log to document my progress...

Cruise....  yeah...  I have done done the ride from Lago to Big Spring, remember?  Tom and I did it the first year of the Relay/Rally.  That is a hike. And nothing to see except for cotton.  Cotton and windmills.

I remember it well! It was mid-week and I was in the middle of building out a law office and a bad time to take time off work. You had an epic ride that week and have some great stories/memories!  5 years ago this month?!

The 3 hour cruise reference was lost on many apparently, right Gilligan?

I was particating a little further in that connect when Justin did the Handoff to Scotly, ClimbingAZ and I ijust across the NM line from AZ.

Nice looking CL and CB and good starter on the 550. That rack could be flipped here or on ebay to fund your rebild for the cost of a new points plate maybe  good ND or TEC  setup. (Stay away from Diachi parts)

A HondaMan electronic ignition box could make that the last set of points needed.
Good luck with your build.
