GL1000 FORKS FOR THE CR 750 REPLICA BUILD
« on: December 26, 2015, 11:20:52 pm »
Hi All,
I'm looking for a suitable fork set up for the CR 750 project.
The general idea would be to go for a Goldwing set up ie GL1000 1975-1977 with the 37mm dia. stantions.
Am I correct that this year would have the trees that fit straight onto the 1977 CB750 headstock ?
I was looking at also using the same GL front hub, twin disks set and a new spoke wheel ( the whole front end )
Any info appreciated or other options considered.

Cheers Keith

Keith,

The 1975-76 GL1000 front is a direct fitment swap to the CB750 headstock. The shell hub is identical BUT the GLRim is aluminum, AND the brake rotors have a different offset.

If you do not want to rebuild a wheel and prefer the lighter aluminum, use the stock GL wheel. You can also save unsprung weight by thinning the rotors or using EBC floating rotors as replacements.

Thanks for that info. The set up you have in the photo is as I would like.
If I obtained a 75-77 complete gl1000 front end that would be OK.
Of course everything would be rebuilt but this will fit and work well I presume ?
Would you need the fork stabiliser , I assume so ?

Yes correct about the 75-76. The 77 goes to Comstar I believe.
