This head pipe would be a very good start for you grcamna2.http://www.ebay.com/itm/83-85-Honda-ATC200X-DG-RCM-Black-Steel-Full-Exhaust-04-2108-/261728073764?hash=item3cf0357824:g:kocAAOSwk5FUrugl&vxp=mtr

The HF bender will not get even close to what you need regardless of how you do it.

Ok well in that case disregard everything I said. Good tips on using the bender here and it just might work with that style of exhaust. Good luck either way.

I've got a hossfeld bender and a few dies but I can't bend thin wall without it kinking. I can do moly in 1" through 1 5/8. .058 in small sizes and .065 wall as it gets bigger and when it's mild steel it's really thick before I can bend it.

That pipe seller has 179,000 items on ebay !  !  !l

Don, i thought that Hossfeld and JD Squared type benders were similar.
And that tube stationary, withblock pulling tube AROUND the die, usually yields smooth bends... I saw ones looking pretty good come off hossfelds.
Are you lubing the tube and die ? Or is it a wall thickness problem..?

I got the hoops below bent on a mandrel bender.... 3/4 inch od.. The hoops are for rear frame sections to take flattrack seats..
Not sure if they used the mandrel, i can see a hint of bulge.. It was at a place I worked for a while, they made gobs of mirror brackets for Western Star trucks. But that part was flat and I had an accurate pattern so it was an easy job..

That's been my experience with most benders; thin wall tubing suitable for exhaust kinks. A mandrel type bender is required for thin wall.

The steel exhaust pipe that AutoZone will sell/quoted me is 1 1/2" o.d. and 1 3/8" i.d. and they said that it's 1/16" thick tubing,is that thick enough tubing w/o having it kink or bulge too much when they bend it ?

A mandrel bender can do it. Mine doesn't have a mandrel, Parts store pipe will be aluminized it'll take paint not sure about plating.

They gave me a choice between aluminized or just plain steel pipe.

Don,
I found a small shop in a town called Port Royal,PA.,about 180 miles from me that has a mandrel bender;do you think mandrel will make the 'cleanest' bends ?

Woods metal , cerrobend, MCP 158 and Pewtalloy... Are all used to melt into thinwall tubing..prior to bending.. Ofc to find out what that cost.

All of these melt al lower than 200 F.. Some as low as 158 F.

4 lbs of cerrobend on ebay right now for 35.00

Melt it pour it into pipe in the to be bent area..prevents  kinking..
Way easier than sand, and trying to plug ends. ...I think..

ok,then you make your bends and heat it back up to remove it? makes sense & sounds like it'll save wasted pipe.
What's the usual thickness of good quality exhaust pipe? and just thought I'd ask about stainless steel..
The owner of the exh./tube shop in the little town of Port Royal,PA. (T. lane muffler)who has the mandrel type bender for 1.5" pipe spoke w/ me on the phone and I sent him some pics of the present pipe on my bike that i want to copy only bigger dia. and he asked me if I wanted to use SS and that sounds like a great option.
I'd like to get two header pipes bent(depending on the price..)for different set-ups:one SS for an oem longer muffler w/ it's excellent sealing flange and clamp and then one w/ standard steel a certain length for use w/ another style aftermarket muffler I'll decide on later.Would you tell me what the length of the pipe and muffler have to do with where the powerband comes in ? I was told a longer headpipe/muffler is good for high rpm powerband..
